2. They'll eliminate President's Day and change it to Reagan Day
"Oh, sh*t," says Walt, "I hadn't thought of that." :)

4. Oh c'mon. Am I the only one to remember why "President's Day" exists?
Seriously, there used to be a seperate holiday for Washington's Birthday (February 22 under the Gregorian calendar) and Lincoln's birthday (February 12). Washington's was a national holiday and Lincoln's was a state holiday in many states (including the state I grew up in).

"President's Day" is the compromise name combining the celebration of both birthdays. It has since come to be the day to celebrate ALL presidents, ergo, there can be no Reagan Day.

16. I thought that was also when they added MLK Day...
The Presidents' Day compromise was to cut back a holiday in order to accommodate the new one... maybe my memory is just faulty here?

Edited on Wed Jun-09-04 02:58 PM by elperromagico
but just call it Babe Ruth Day.

... or Bob Marley Day,
or Zsa Zsa Gabor Day,
or Mike Farrell Day,
or just call it Fart Day. ;)

11. Every saint gets his or her own feast day
Ronnies should be June 5th. I am working on a hymn to be sung each day on that year.

Holy Holy Holy St. Ronnie Almighty/He brought down communism with one swift blow of his mighty axe/his optimism was a blessing to many a homeless person and school child who only had to starve a little/Why don't we all have some of the Holy Communion of St. Ronnie/Ketchup and Gov'ment Saltines/One fine day we will all be reunited in Heaven with his most high holiness.

14. The way they're carrying on about him, I wouldn't be surprised
if they changed his birthday to Dec. 25th

17. For me, that day is crowded enough as it is.
On that day I GLADLY celebrate the birthdays of BOB MARLEY (One Love!) and BABE RUTH -- two FAR WORTHIER icons than the Gipper.
