MUST READ:Women seeking abortions were tricked!

Since 1993, Bill Graham, a Metairie anti-abortion crusader, has
used fear and delays to keep women pregnant until an abortion
would be illegal. In a duplicitous two-pronged approach, Graham
lures his victims by co-opting the name of a well-known medical
provider, the Causeway Medical Clinic, and by falsely
advertising that he provides abortion referral services.

Graham, however, provides neither. Instead, he strings countless
women along for months, promising to connect them with doctors
in private practice for a bargain price. He claims to have "set
up" appointments, and then repeatedly "reschedules" them. All
the while, he discusses the women's medical conditions with
them, wrongly advising them that the longer they wait to have an
abortion, the less risk there will be to their health. He has
every intention to prevent the women from having an abortion
while the procedure is still legal.

3. Never fails to register that most of the strident anti-abortionists
are men. There's a religious right group that regularly picketted the only abortion clinic in our area (maybe state) for at least the last 12 years. I would take a count as I passed by each week, and found that it was always made up of 80-95% men. What gives? Are they so stunned that women can get pregnant they want to make every pregnancy sacred? Don't they know that only 32.5% of all human fertilized eggs ever make it full term naturally?

4. it's just pure misogynism---men don't want women to have full control
of their reproductive choices.

5. From my experience this is true...
I went with a female friend to have a PG test at a women's clinic that also performed abortions (this was 15 years ago in Columbus OH). We were literally surrounded in the parking lot by a group of men armed with graphic photographs and literature. I didn't see one woman among any of the people who regularly squatted outside the clinic.

7. I used to go to Planned Parenthood to get my regular
gyne checkups...as I was single and didn't have good insurance...so when I went there to get my yearly pap smear I was confronted by older men waving signs in my face about abortion......

People go to clinics for many other reasons....

6. What a pig!
Funny thing is that they aren't getting prenatal services either...nor are they adapting their behavior to their pregnancy since they think they will be getting an abortion.
For example, drinking, smoking and even drug use may continue because they did not intend on completing the pregnancy.

8. Can't this jerk be sued for
impersonating a doctor or at least a medical practice?

9. I didn't get the impression...
that he claimed to be a medical doctor, just a referral service that could get the women an abortion on the cheap. Surely there's something criminal about bilking them out of their money.

11. But he's giving out advice as if
he were a "doctor." Dangerous advice at that. No lay person is supposed to be dispensing medical advice.

12. Yep, you're right....
He was telling them that a later abortion is "safer".

10. Another link:
http://www.nola.com/newsflash/louisiana/index.ssf?/base/news-9/1086647401276020.xml

One plaintiff, Priscilla Cabrera, said she decided to get an abortion when she learned she was pregnant, and got Graham's number from the telephone book under "Abortion Services," according to a 46-page memorandum filed with the suit. She said Graham used an alias and told her he put women who want abortions in touch with private doctors who perform them for $125.

"Graham told Cabrera that, unlike the doctors he worked with, clinic doctors were unable to make it in the real world and that the clinics generally were unsafe. Graham told Cabrera that if an abortion was performed too early, it could be harmful to her health," it said.

Her first call was December 26, 2003. Graham said he would set up an appointment Jan. 10, but did not call Cabrera back for weeks, even though she called him repeatedly, the suit said.

When he finally spoke to her, he said a later abortion would be better for her health, and he could arrange for an abortion up to the 30th week of pregnancy, according to the memorandum.

13. My aunt used to do that. She was with Operation Rescue
They opened a fake women's clinic. they used the same tactics. They got caught because her daughter in law found out they didn't have a doctor associated with their "clinic", so she had them shut down.

The funny part of it, both the mother and daughter in law had the same name. The mother got all the middle of the night death threats from pro lifers. It got so bad she had to take out an add in the local newspaper declaring that she is not the same person.

The Daughter went on to be a respected pro choice state representative.
