Reagan's Death is Detrimental and Harmful to Bush |
|
Now Bush has two major opponents in November--Kerry and Reagan; and he is losing to both.
The Republican driven, over-the-top rhetoric delivered by the Republican media friends has turned Reagan into an icon, a larger than life figure, a veritable saint. It all makes Bush look small, irrelevant and unimportant.
The “great communicator’ vs. the inarticulate bumpkin. The man celebrated for international outreach making enemies into friends vs. the inept, usurper who has driven away all international friends. The carefully chosen clips to make Reagan look “presidential” vs. the pig they cannot clean up and put lipstick on and peddle as ‘presidential’. The images of the elegant and gracious state dinners honoring visiting heads of state vs. Jeb Clampett and Ms. Frump.
The images the republicans are creating fit well with the dignity, bearing and eloquence of Kerry and seem like pearls cast before Bush swine. They miscalculated. They have diminished Bush even further.

5. Don, I feel they totally overplayed this one |
|
They knew they were going into ultra-hype and had dreams of it being a Bush Booster. But just like the WWI memorializing resulted in Kerry gaining even more ground in the polls, this too is another nail in the Bush political coffin.

Every boneheaded thing he does harms him more.
He will wind up hanging himself with his own rope. Just like his father.

4. There are plenty of young people out there who |
|
have got to be watching this whole Reagan thing and going, "What the f----!!??" He was old, he had a rich happy life, why are people making such a big deal?
The young are pretty used to life without "daddy", i.e. without a strong father figure, so they aren't going to miss this guy that much.
Too bad they don't vote.

Perhaps his over-excited, manic behavior at the Press Conference today was, along with relief that the G8 is over, his attempt to BE more like Ronnie - jovial, positive, personable, and popular.

10. I think his G8 bizzare behavior is more reflective |
|
of him thinking he has scored in pulling the wool over the people's eyes again--he has not. The UN resolution simply recognizes the Iraqi government (as would be expected). His push for NATO bailing out his sorry hide was met with opposition. He thinks he has material to sling at Kerry. And I am positive Kerry will put it into perspective for the American people. And also, Monday morning is only 3 days away and then Reagan and WWII memorials are gone and Bush's inept governing is back. I think he thinks he has solved it all and he will reign in the polls in a week or two, burying Kerry by 20 points. He doesn't realize that no one is listening to him anymore. And the press would be wize to realize it also.

12. Much of the press seems to be turning on him |
|
When you live by PR, you die by PR. However, regardless of the press, let's not forget that these people will do ANYTHING to stay in power. No matter how insane his actions, words or deeds, BushCo still controls all the levers of power. And no one on this planet can feel safe until they are dragged away from the control panel.

This is just from looking at polls since his (Reagan's) death. They're practically unchanged.

The republicans were thinking this would all rub off on their inept fool. It has not. They made a national idol by mistake and now Bush cannot compete with it. He does not stand to benefit from all this hype.

15. They don't understand that this moment won't |
|
last forever.
Bush has been so beaten up for the past several months that they are taking this event and trying for all their worth to reverse the damange.
What they don't understand is that this is transitory, and the problems/scandals are still out there waiting to bite their boy in the butt.
Let them have their 15 minutes. They are making huge mistakes in their desperation, and those help us as well.

Fifteen minutes? Hitler's 15 minutes turned into 13 years and over 50 million deaths.
And don't hand me any crap about not comparing this administration to Hitler. They're in power and they'll do anything to remain in power.
Do you think they care who has to die to let them remain in control?
Do you think they have a conscience?
Do you think they would stop at concentration camps? (Check out Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib and all the other sites of their world-wide archipelago.)
WAKE UP. These shits will stop at nothing. Cheney was always a first class authoritarian thug and Bush is so fucking stupid, he'd probably invade Russia just as winter was coming on (check out Napoleon and Hitler on this one).
We are currently being run by a criminals (and possibly psychos) who don't give a shit about anything but their own power. And they probably realize that if they lose in November, they might well be answerable to the world court in the Hague.

|
If you want to be pessimistic, you go right ahead.
All I was trying to say is this Reagan worship will pass, the media will get bored, and all the crap that Bush is running from is going to catch him once again.
Haven't you been paying attention? Check out the Ruppert piece about a CIA coup here, and come back and talk to me about how "all-powerful" these incompetent thugs are.
They are making big mistakes here--the first and biggest one being cutting Democrats out of the funeral ceremony. Americans' sense of fair play will be sorely offended by such a showing of partisan rancor.
So lighten up, will you?

I wasn't yelling at you. I was venting my opinion/fear that this administration won't go quietly. I'm fully aware that the CIA and DOD is on their case and is trying to bury them. But Rove is aware of the same things. These despicable pigs are at their most dangerous when they're cornered and right now, all the exits are quickly closing.
My anger/frustration wasn't directed at you. As long as these people control the levers of power, no one on this planet is safe. And their don't seem to be any adults in this administration to prevent these lunatics from using our nuclear arsenal. I won't sleep well until Bush and company are far removed from doing any more damage to the human race.

I've felt those same things since the 2000 coup. I also agree that they are lowlifes who will do anything to win.
But I also think that Rove and Co. deep down are cowards. Most bullies are cowards underneath, and they might want to take the last, ultimate step, but I don't think that they have the stones for it.
They are being boxed in, and there's nothing that they can do to stop their own inevitable downfall.
It's all good.

Hopefully, our pals, the secret service will do their job and protect our country from the domestic terrorism of a wannabe president, flanked by an overzealous right guard, hellbent to leather to destroy what they cannot have.
They (SS) are witnessing way more than we'll ever know. Bush is on his good behavior in front of the cameras. But come next week, when he is yet again blindsided with another volley of accusations aka LIES...his schizoid paranoia will kick in once again, because nobody, not even Poppy, has been able to make this nightmare go away..(it's taking him this long to figure it out)
I feel a Frog Marching coming on!

I agree, bullies are cowards. Until you go in for the kill.
If they have nowhere to run they become unpredictable.
They will either lethally blame their own. Commit suicide, or try to do away with the aggressor.

I think that the powers-that-be have decided to cut Bush loose. He's too unreliable, and his schtick has grown old. Bush is costing them more than he is benefiting them, and there are just too many people (CIA, State, Pentagon) who are into the act now.
Hell, Bush doesn't even have the media unquestionably swallowing anymore.
