Should Kerry pull a Clinton at the debates?
I'm thinking of something along the lines of, when discussion of the Iraq war he says something like this:

"A wise man once said...

'Going in and occupying Iraq, thus unilaterally exceeding the United Nations' mandate, would have destroyed the precedent of international response to aggression that we hoped to establish. Had we gone the invasion route, the United States could conceivably still be an occupying power in a bitterly hostile land. It would have been a dramatically different--and perhaps barren--outcome.'

... and that man was George Herbert Walker Bush, your father."

4. He was wise for a republican president
since he was the only one of the last 4 to not be a dumb-ass.

2. Depends
Assuming the quote is true, it might give * the sympathy vote - Americans might. :eyes:

Then there's this:

Time Magazine used to have an article that made Bush look foolish. They have recently removed it from their website.

This is an unethical and wrong move on the part of Time.

I've lost a lot of respect for the quality of writing at Time over the years, but this goes beyond anything of which I would have imagined them capable. It of course brings to mind the famous phrase by Orwell:

Who controls the past, controls the future.
Who controls the present, controls the past.

---- 1984 by George Orwell

Interesting that the author quotes Orwell, but oh well.

6. The sympathy vote didn't help Bush the Elder.
In fact I thought it was the turning point of the '92 election.

5. Ya think there'll BE any debates?
I don't see how bu$h's handlers can risk having their boy look any stoopider than he already does--which the debates will certainly bring about.

7. I love it!
Yes! It's terrific!

And terrifically unfair. Listen, before I get flamed, I don't believe that shrub deserves any fair treatment, but in terms of a public Presidential debate, fairness is an issue. Even though that statement would eviscerate shrub, it would cast Kerry as an opportunist. Pitting father against son, no matter how appropriate it is, even in terms of foreign policy decisions, will be an unpopular move.

Again, we need no convincing. We're voting for anyone but Bush, but the election outcome still hangs by a thread, and that thread is represented by the middle ground - easily influenced and shaken.

As much as I love it, as much as I would love to have TiVo going when it happens, the debates (if they should ever happen) hold much juicer possibilities.

1) You Lied
2) You Leaked
3) You "Left Behind"
4) 5) 6) 7) 8).....

10. Then why did he vote to authorize the invasion?
He's not wise?

Slippery slope with that one. Another reason he was WRONG on the IWR vote.
