Blackout and the DOW - Frightday the 15th? |
|
I was discussing this with others - they are concerned that the computers will be a real mess tomorrow after this blackout (if they are even up and running by then!).
Take a bet on this one - look for a MAJOR tank in the DOW tomorrow given this is looking to be a bit more than "just a blackout".
If it was another terror attack which is being so quickly denied on all levels (almost before it even happened!) - they must cover it up because otherwise, its bye bye *.
The whole thing literally stinks ...
and as usual * was in hiding and went *duh* just like on 9/11.
I smell a rat, and a very big one at that.
Any other speculative remarks?

1. I bet the usual daily patterns will be all screwed up... |

Consider that traders might think that the power might go out again at any moment, so they won't want to count on selling off a sucker's rally in the afternoon (since there may be no electricity).

Predicting a low volume selloff. Shouldn't have much effect beyond tomorrow. A buying opportunity for swing traders, IMHO.
People are just overreacting to a power blackout.

Too much contingency in place now, maybe 10 years ago. It will be down though, at least in the AM. Start buying around 11:30.

We are at the tail end of the Summer doldrums anyway.
Wall Street will take a LONG weekend.
