Just got an email from a friend asking for help disproving the liberal media label. Specifically here's what he is asking:
"Trying to prove a point on a newsgroup. Can anyone point me to a source (in print or on line) to back up my assertation that while reporters and journalists are mostly liberal, editorial and management staff are mostly conservative.
Thanks for the help"
I know this has to have been addressed before. If you know where the links are and/or have more info please direct me to it.
Thanks!

1. Don't know but it's like saying that since most GM workers are union, |
|
that GM supports the labor union point of view.

2. Welcome to DU. Here's the only link you need |
|
www.google.com
My preliminary search on "myth of the liberal media" gave me several excellent hits just on the first page. You should have the same good fortune. :)

3. Point them to the fact that |
|
All major media outlets are run by giant conglomerates that stand to profit from a conservative regime in power. The media was at one point liberally biased, but Reagan took to destroying that by de-regulating the industry, allowing the big fish to eat up all the little fish and become hulking corporations.

8. A couple of other good ones |

Lots of excellent info and links here: http://www.makethemaccountable.com/myth/LiberalMedia.htmhttp://www.freedomofthepress.net/theliberalmedia.htmhttp://www.fair.org/reports/journalist-survey.htmlSo, what's your opinion? Do you think that we have a liberal media? What do you think of media concentration in the hands of so few? Should the fairness doctrine be re-instated?

6. Any list of who the executives donated to? |
|
I'd like a list of who the executives from the news aganecies donated to the campaigns of. That would go a long way to answering my friend's question and helping him win his arguement.
Thanks for the other links!

7. Fundies see *liberal media* as the decline in what's acceptable on TV..... |
|
....and in the movies...RE: sex *especially homosexuals*...violence..that sort of thing...although the right gives the left plenty of rope to hang themselves with in this regard...just so they can have a platform to point their fingers and say..."see what the HEATHEN DEVIL WORSHIPERS are DOIN' to RUIN society!" It is more a *moralistic* lable than a political one.
