9-11 Panel hearings:
Are they saying that they didn't consider scrambling the jets until 9:53? After three were already crashed?

"Somebody is going to have to make a decision about scrambling jets in the next ten minutes," said one controller at 9:53.

1. Yeah, it's always ticked me off that
3 planes were allowed to hit buildings before someone thought "Hey, let's do something about this."

3. unidentified plane
ah yeah..they could tell by the damn airspeed it was a jet and they had a commerical airline missing. It was somewhere and they knew it. NORAD could (and you know they did) track that plane.

Finally we have the truth out and no one cares? Why only C-Span3?

5. Interesting
They just showed a guy in the audience kind of shaking his head as the information is being read. I think a lot of people there don't believe the commission.

Edited on Thu Jun-17-04 09:08 AM by JohnyCanuck
Why has there been no discussion of the simulated hijacking exercises and other war games that "coincidentally" were occurring on 911 even as the real hijackings were going on. These war games are likely to have been at least partly responsible for the late responses to the real hijackings. See more details in Post #8 of this thread

6. Did "somebody" give the order?
"Somebody is going to have to make a decision about scrambling jets in the next ten minutes," said one controller at 9:53."

It's clear to me now that BushCo had no idea that they had to issue the order for the jets to be scrambled.

9. You're correct about scrambling, but shooting down...
is a different matter.

There are standard operating procedures that state exactly who should do what whenever a commercial airliner either loses radio contract with the tower or deviates only two or more miles from its specified flight path. The procedure is that the flight controller immediately calls the appropriate military authorities and they in turn immediately send one or more fighter aircraft to the deviant airliner to assess the situation. This means the fighter jet pilot flies close enough to eyeball the commercial airliner pilot and, in most cases, then flies in front of the airliner, tips his wings as the standard signal for the airliner to follow him, and leads it back onto its proper flight path. This is called an "interception." An interception does not mean shooting down the airliner, although this can be one outcome if and only if the President of the United States orders it. The authority to intercept an airliner comes from the flight controller, based on the standard procedures.

12. listen
you can't have a shoot down order until you scramble. You would scramble anyway to TRY to establish contact with the flight. THEN the pilot of the fighter would advice of what he SEES. After that the fighter would be advised what to do, example follow, continue to rock wings on and on. ALSO if you have an fighter escorting the non tranponder commerical airline you then can just use the transponder of the fighter so you are sure to track where the planes are going.

This is normal routine practice. Don't let them fool you. Honey, I did this shit for a living not too long ago.

8. Are they discussing the war games that were taking place 9/11
Edited on Thu Jun-17-04 08:18 AM by JohnyCanuck
These were war games that "coincidentally" simulated aircraft hijackings and hijacked aircraft hitting buildings and probably one exercise "Northern Vigilance" that involved a simulated air attack of a more conventional type coming from Russia. It allegedly caused a number of USAF fighters to be diverted north to Canada while the real hijackings were going on.

“I have an on-the-record statement from someone in NORAD that on the day of 9/11 The Joint Chiefs of Staff (Richard B. Myers) and NORAD were conducting a joint, live-fly, hijack Field Training Exercise (FTX) which involved at least one (and almost certainly many more) aircraft under US control that was posing as a hijacked airliner”.
Mike Ruppert – June 5, 2004, editor of FTW www.fromthewilderness.com

On September 11, 2001, Richard B. Meyers, the acting Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has thus far claimed he was in a meeting with Senator Max Cleland, and was “unaware” of the ongoing 9/11 attacks until after the Pentagon.

<snip>

On September 11, 2001, the Air Force was in its second day of annual wargame drills, titled VIGILANT GUARDIAN, designed to test national air response systems, which incidentally involved hijacking scenarios. In addition the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) which is staffed by military and CIA personnel, and is in charge of most American spy satellites, was running a drill for the scenario of an errant aircraft crashing into its headquarters. NRO headquarters also happens to be located just four miles from Washington’s Dulles airport – where Flight 77 (the flight said to have hit the Pentagon) originated...

<snip>

It is possible that Phillip Zelikow, the executive director of the 9/11 Commission, has classified certain wargames running on 9/11 so the Commission can’t address them publicly. The fact that the war games are open source, having been reported in mainstream publications including the Associated Press, UPI, and Aviation Weekly Magazine would make such a classification part & parcel to a cover-up. Hopefully the Commission will address, in public hearing, the impact these wargames apparently had on the NORAD response on 9/11.

http://inn.globalfreepress.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=387

If you'd like to do something about the attempted coverup of the war games and the role these war games played in delaying NORAD/USAF response to the real hijackings, then here's some info from the 9-11 Visibility Project ( www.septembereleventh.org )

Dear 9/11 Truth activists and concerned citizens,

The final 9/11 Commission hearings are scheduled for
this Wednesday and Thursday, and will be aired on
CSPAN. Ostensibly these hearings will focus on "the
9-11 Plot." However, given the Commission's failure to
ask any of the important questions at previous
hearings, no credible sources expect them to do so this
time. Therefore, this action alert does not ask you to
make another appeal to the commission. Rather it is
directed towards the media, at this crucial time, in
order to alert them to the fact that the 9/11
commission is a whitewash.

Please participate! The final hearings covering "the
9/11 Plot" combined with the upcoming release of
Michael Moore's new film, "Fahrenheit 911," provide an
incredible window of opportunity. The media and the
public have never been as skeptical of the official
story of 9/11 as they are right now!

We provide everything you need in this email, including
sample letters and media email addresses.

Towards 9/11 Truth,

Emanuel Sferios

9/11 MEDIA ACTION - EXPOSE THE 9/11 COMMISSION
WHITEWASH!

SAMPLE LETTER
(Feel free to copy and paste, or use your own words.)

-----
Dear editor/reporter,

The final 9/11 commission hearings are upon us and the
important questions as put forth by the 9/11 families
have not been asked. Many of these questions pertain to
the evidence for Bush Administration complicity in the
attacks themselves, and the refusal of the 9/11
commission to address them is indicative of a coverup.

Ostensibly these hearings are supposed to focus on "the
9/11 plot" and the unprecedented failures of our air
defense system to respond to the hijacked aircraft. If
the commission took their mandate seriously, they would
inquire about the wargames that the US Military was
conducting on 9/11.

Wargames? What Wargames?

On the morning of Sept. 11 itself, the U.S. military
was conducting scheduled wargames and anti-terror
drills that included "airliner hijackings" as well an
"errant aircraft" crashing into a government building.
As referenced in the articles linked below, these
wargames have all been reported in the mainstream
media. Certainly they are relevant to the 9/11 plot. If
the commission is not a whitewash and truly wants to
get to the truth of 9/11, they will ask the hard
questions.

20. Some guy in the audience at the 911 hearings ...
Yelled out for the panel to ask about the war games that were being conducted on 911.

I think it was prior to Gorelick's questioning. She asked him to shut-up and the camera scanned to him and quickly returned to her. I thought they were going to remove him from the hearing, but apparently, they didn't.

I saw this on MSNBC which carried the hearings briefly, but switched to regularly scheduled programming in short order.

Why isn't this being broadcast on every channel? I don't get CSPAN-3 and my computer doesn't have a sound card so I can't stream. I'm sure I'm not in a minority on this, so the overall effect, in my opinion, is that the American people are kept in the dark about the greatest military lapse in US history. Go figure ...

Told them to "take out hostile aircraft" and "shoot them down if necessary".

Some got orders to take them out and others did not?

Too little, too late.

(Or, CSPAN....I think the sound is better on the radio feed).

I went to the very best (IMO) 9-11 site, a comprehensive, exhaustive chronology, meticulously researched.

http://cooperativeresearch.org/completetimeline/

I was going to follow along the "official story" timeline/fairy tale they gave this morning at the hearing, with the researched one.

Except, here's the message I got when I went to the site:

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

DURN those coincidences.

On edit: Oh, they're talking about "glitches" -- the same word they use when the electronic voting machines fail. GLITCHES.

This is nuts. They won't ask the question.
If I were on that commission I would ask everyone of them
Were any of you instructed at any time to Stand down? Till Further notice? Or at least until we figure out protocal and who is is charge? They are asking around the question.

17. There might not have been a need for a stand down order.
That was because there were war games and hijacking exercises that were "coincidentally" ongoing even as the real 911 hijackings were taking place. This caused a diversion of resources and confusion so that NORAD was unable to respond in a timely manner to the real hijackings.

19. Why the attacks may have been delayed?
A report came out on Tuesday that Al Qaeda wanted to attack in April or May but Atta said he was not ready. Guess it took a bit of work to get everything set up.

War Games happen regularly. Who decided that 9/11 was the perfect day for this particular scenario to be played out?
