16. It was also aired on CNN |
|
I'm going to have to read the transcript when it comes out, but I think they also said that the reason the military and especially Norad got confused was because the shootdown order came from Cheney. The normal chain of command would be Bush --> Rumsfeld, but Rummy was apparently unavailable until 10:30. And Bush seems not to have made a call to him anyway...
Sorry to be confusing. This is sure to be rebroadcast in the next few days. And the transcript will be available.

Get that man a cell phone. Geez. Come on, I can find most people I know in 5-10 minutes, if need be. You'd think they could find Rummy to talk to. Geez.

All this talk of replacing cheny with guiliani is meant to make it look like bush doesn't need cheney when in fact, it's all about cheney.

19. But he can be just as powerful in other, non-elected positions |
|
I agree that Bush isn't pulling his own strings. But I can imagine that even Cheney himself might realize he's not very "electable," and putting a prettier face on the ticket while moving to, say, head of the CIA would allow him to do his ventriloquist act from elsewhere.

The person reading the report said that none of the other people in the room who took notes had any recollection of that "conversation" Cheney had with the prez.

Sounds fishy, huh?? So the panel said that 93 wasn't shot down?? By the time the order was given, it had already crashed?? What struck me was the graphic of the path of the planes and how through that whole time - nothing was done... 93 took a long loop around to DC - how could they not know what to do????

10. That would be consistent with the coverage and later coverage |
|
of the day.
That day - Cheney et al (while Bush is flying around the country from "safe place to safe place.") were claiming not to worry as Cheney was in control of things in the basement of the WH. (Not quite as bold of a declaration of the "I am in control" statement of Alexander Haig... but the message put out was the same.)
Within a day or two they whisked Cheney to his famous "undisclosed location" and out of the limelight. His initial posturing was gone. The scuttlebut was that the President's handlers (esp Rove and Hughes) were VERY unhappy that Cheney was looking (and acting) presidential and overshadowing bush. By the big speech at National Cathedral - Bush was back in control... "comforting the nation" and Cheney was nowhere to be seen.
In short, Cheney DID take control and act as commander in chief. This "report" both that he made the call... AND a later "clarification" (and lie) that ACTUALLY WHAT HAPPENED WAS... that Cheney called Bushjr and Bushjr made the call... (now disrpoven?) would be completely consistent with what we know from the immediate news coverage on 911 and in the immediate following days.

12. This is why the entire fictional "hero" story had to be constructed. |
|
They might have been able to sell the necessity of shooting the plane down to the public, if it could be proven that flight 93 was in fact, on course to target the Capitol or the White House. But what they could NOT do was link the shootdown order to Junior, as he was playing hide & seek all over the country like the fucking chickenshit coward that he is and always has been. Meaning that Uncle Dick made the call without the authority to do so. So rather than explain all of that, they just created a ridiculous cover story that played well with the media.

wouldn't it have been better to shoot the planes down? I know that sounds absolutely horrible, but it would have saved the lives of the thousands that died in the WTC. Sometimes being in the White House means you have to make horrible decisions that no person (or inhuman cyborg) should ever have to make, so I think Cheney made the right call that time, if he did give the order.
Flame on!!

21. Because, as I think someone already pointed out... |
|
it's a much better story if you say that some brave passengers overpowered the terrorists and crashed the plane in the middle of nowhere. I don't want to soil the memories of the men and women on Flight 93 by suggesting their bravery was just a cover story, but it makes you think. This administration is cowardly enough to not admit to shooting down an airplane, even if it would have averted a much larger disaster.

17. they never got close enough to the WTC planes |
|
so, never had a chance to shoot them down.
and remember, the first plane came in OVER the city, not over the water as with the WTC hit. downing it over the city would have been a disaster too.

18. I agree. But why cover it up and lie about it? More importantly |
|
why did the order come from the vice president and not the president? Why wasn't the president in charge and giving orders? (rhetorical question)

22. Foking Idiots...they didn't know the Chain of command.... |
|
Again big failure by Rumsfeld. He was no where to be found and he himself didn't even know that it was his responsibility, in the chain of command, to issue the orders to shoot down the airplanes. 'Hands off Rumpbutt.' strikes again, against the US....bush was too busy reading a stupid book. Cheney gave the command to shootdown the airplanes.
Miss Condosleeza, oil princess, told her idiot president, 'a small aircraft hit the WTC NY.' Even when the whole world was watching on TV, the huge explosion at the WTC, the bitch kept insisting that it was ...nothing, a small aircraft.
That General Myers is such a whinner. He's such a failure. Gorelick is hitting him hard.

27. Visualize the turkey. |
|
As you think of the official story on 9-11, visualize the photo op of W. with a platter of what looks like turkey, to serve the troops in Iraq on Thanksgiving.
Turns out it was a plastic turkey. Turns out the troops did NOT get a turkey, they got regular military meals that day.
The plastic turkey is what we get every time, folks.
Pretty picture. No real turkey there, except the one without feathers.
Shooting the entire the country the bird. Every day.
