And please forgive if this has already been addressed, but - today I was watching a re-run of the 9/11 commission hearings from last Thursday. They were going on and on and on about the breakdown in communication on 9/11 btw Cmdr Bunnypants and the rest of our stirling offialdom. So I thought "why don't they ask why he didn't use the football?" It's always with the President (or in the present case with G.W. Bush :scared: )and in addition to the launch codes and playbook it has a secure SATCOM radio and handset. The military person that carries it is overseen by the Hollow Log (er, White House) Communications Agency. This outfit, as I understand it, is supposed to provide telecommunication and related support to the POTUS, VP, senior WH staff, NCS, SS, and others as directed by the "WH Military Office." So, instead of letting Cmdr B. play around with a cell phone, wouldn't it make more sense for him to use the football (at least btw spending time out in the classroom and reaching AF1) or was that in a state of FUBAR, too? (And I realize I am assuming that "they" wanted him to be in contact with anyone, so maybe I answered my own question).:eyes:

AFTER he finished "My Pet Goat."
I mean, c'mon. He was in the MIDDLE of the book. He wanted to see how it ended.

Bet * isn't reading well enough for that one yet, though.

Maybe it was in the bunker with Cheney...
But I also believe strongly that "they" mainly wanted to keep the chimperor out from underfoot. He's their front man -- not particularly integral to the inner workings of the operation.
I also believe that all the flying around the country was designed as opportunity to get The Great Leader(tm) well-coached for his eventual public statement. I imagine that would have taken up a significant amount of time, and done best without interruption.

9. Thanks -- not original though... |

I picked it up here at DU some time back, but I have no idea who came up with it first. One of my faves, for sure. :D

I wonder if anyone involved in this so-called "investigation" had raised the question.
