"Worse than Watergate" - reading it now and am infuriated... |
|
Dammit, why does this President get away with it? Why doesn't the press do their goddammed JOB and report the sliminess and total lapse of morality and ethic in this Administration?
John Dean, the author of "Worse than Watergate", is hardly an zealous idealogue (he's a Republican) and his well laid out case for this Adminstration as corrupt is damning.
I still don't understand why this Adminstration has gotten a free pass for their crimes and misdeamenors.

I have read many of the books that have come out describing these pricks beginning with Hatfield--Dean's book is excellent and clearly written and easily read.
I am also stunned and shocked at what has been allowed to pass and what has been accepted by a great many people as being perfectly fine. That would include our Democrats also.
Something rotten has happened within the past three and half years and the most putrid smell of the rot comes from the White House.
In the Cohen article in DU Editorials, Cohen mentions that the original reason given to go to war with Iraq, WMD, has been successfully disappeared.
Most people now have come over to the side of Bush--Democrats because they voted for it and those who protested it also, because they accept it, the invasion and occupation as the inevitable, being forced to forego their own sense of propriety and ingegrity which they had originally.
I for one cannot let that go down the memery hole, but it is being sucked down there real fast.
I fear the way almost half a country can accept this rot and few are challenging--Bush will get that second term.

3. The video "Orwell Rolls Over in this Grave" says Media is #1 Lobby |
|
Despite the people saying they didn't want media control in the hands of a few people that could include multiple markets, Congress snuck it in as a rider on a different bill. All one has to do is look at who owns the media outlets and what they achieve commercially to understand the media situation.

I remember watching Dean on the Sean Hannity show on Fox ..... Hannity could not point out a single error in the book. Instead, he whined about feeling betrayed by Dean. I bought the book the next day.

7. My best guess as to why they get away with it is that the major |
|
media are now a wholly owned subsidiary of the Republican Party; or,rather, the Republican Party is a wholly owned subsidiary of Corporate America which the major media are part of.
I don't expect any change in the reporting of the major media. What I'm trying to figure out is how can we get the message out without using that media. I think if the message gets out; bush is finished; but the media aren't going to be the ones putting it out.
