When this S. Korean guy was begging |
|
Edited on Tue Jun-22-04 01:59 PM by PCIntern
for his life...and it was a really horribly plaintive cry...was anyone else thinking of the time when * mocked Karla Faye Tucker's pleading before they 'threw the switch' on her?

Though I am still unimpressed by such a display, I did find a bit ironic when looking at the timeframe.
At the time, Pat Robertson and the 700 people were hot for Tucker to get released since she had become born again. Nevermind that nasty pickaxe business, she's found Jesus Christ. The fact that Bush was making fun of this is bizarrely ironic. Bush's behavior was still undignified but people try and make her a saint for the sole reason Bush was callous towards her.

12. I believe they wanted her sentence commuted to life |
|
I remember this very well and not one person I recall was asking for her release. She never once claimed to be innocent.
Bush was much worse than "undignified." He held the power of life and death over her and he mocked her terror of her impending public death ritual. He is scum and has never accepted any responsibility for any of his wrongdoings.

I messed up the release part. The call was indeed commutation to a life sentence.

10. He probably spoke English because he was educated. |
|
Most people with even a bit of education speak more than one language.
Outside of the US, that is.

11. No, he spoke English because the captors wanted to reach the US audience |
|
He was pleading for S. Korea to get out of Iraq, yet he spoke English.

14. He was working for an "American military supplier" -- Halliburton? |
|
Edited on Tue Jun-22-04 02:20 PM by 2004 Victory
The poor guy just arrived in Iraq on the 15th. They keep saying he worked for an American military supplier but no one has said the company name. Makes me think it must be Halliburton.

This beheading trend is really appalling but it annoys me that the media is spinning this like it's a new thing exclusive to "terra"
Hell "our friends" the Saudis do this normally to anyone that doesn't suit them...it's despicable but not a new thing in Saudi.
