Coalition of the Wild Eyed?
Bush Camp Hits Democrats' 'Coalition of Wild-Eyed'
Thu Jun 24, 2004 05:28 PM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush's re-election campaign lumped together vocal outbursts by Democrats Al Gore, Howard Dean and others on Thursday and called them part of John Kerry's "Coalition of the Wild-Eyed."
The Bush-Cheney campaign released a video on its Web Site that played up some of the more strident statements Democrats have made on the campaign trail and declared: "This is not a time for pessimism and rage."

The implication the Bush campaign appeared to be trying to leave was that some of the main boosters of Kerry's presidential campaign are filled with rage and perhaps a bit kooky.

"Today, our campaign is releasing a web video to 6 million of our supporters to show them what we're up against and what we're up against is John Kerry's 'coalition of the wild-eyed,"' said Bush campaign manager Ken Melhman.

7. I found that interesting too. . .apparently it was an entry in a moveon
contest that was quickly pulled. . .but I can't imagine that Karl and Karen would have any legal right to use it.

6. Are you sure that is a shrub ad? It looks more like something a
Kerry mole slipped in while no one was looking.

12. Your transcript omits the goofy music at the end...
while they show Bush's picture.

This ad couldn't be more of a parody if John Candy, Dave Thomas, Joe Flaherty, and Catherine O'Hara were in it.

8. Bush looked so wimpy and cheezy..
they only missed the halo, that's all that was missing from it. I agree.. it was a GREAT ad for Dems. Those of us who follow this stuff, know that they intended to use that Nazi footage from the ill-fated entry into MoveOn's contest.. but instead, it will turn against Bush. People will see it as Bush is trying to equate the Dems with the Nazis. That is dangerous politics for a candidate. While many of us have been outspoken and hinted at Bush's similarities to the Nazi Regime, and others have blatantly made that charge.. Kerry or ANY candidate KNOWS NOT to put Hitler and Bush in the same ad.

I swear.. it's like Lee Atwater is back from the dead. Rove learned well, but this ad will backfire so BADLY on them. It will leave many voters who are NOT Bush ass-kissers shaken, and will drive decent people away.

I honestly think that the guy that created the Bush/Hitler ad, or MoveOn, or whomever owns the rights to that, should sue them over using it.. But I suppose it's better for the voters to believe that Bush and Rove are such evil and socially inept assholes that they would use Hitler footage with John Kerry. An angry, politically unpolished young person might make the mistake of creating an ad with Hitler and a candidate... but it's totally inexcusable for a candidate to to do it.. even if we all know it was a liberal ad they were ripping off, trying to make us look bad. They have sunk to the lowest of lows.. they are now somewhere deep below snail shit. (no offense to snails).

10. Ha HAA Ha HAAA HAA HAAAAAAA!!! I Just Realized Something!
Actually, A friend of mine noticed it!

He is totally blind. We were talking about politics and stuff when I hit 'play' for that commercial clip!

"Wait... is that a Democrat ad?" he asked. I told him it was on georgebush.com and that it was actually a Republican ad.

"That can't be right..." he said "It's all Democrat speeches AGAINS Bush. I'm not sure I get it..."

Then *I* got it! The "wild eyed faction" stuff is all SILENT! If someone's not paying attention to the screen, it's a DEMOCRAT commercial!

When I explained this, he just about fell over laughing! "They sure shot themselves in the foot THIS time!" he crowed.

VERY true!

14. What the hell were they thinking?
Here is what I find most odd...

They segued still photos of Hitler to Bush, both using the Sieg Heil using salute. Over the still of Hitler (with a audio of Hitler speaking) the text reads, "God told me to strike at al-Quaida and I struck them." Then, with Hitlers voice still ranting in the background, a still of GWB with the text reading, "and then he told me to strike at Saddam, which I did."
