The important thing is to have an excuse... |
|
This seems to be the motto in the White House and in the Republican Party in general. If there is a power blackout, it was Canada's fault or it was Congress's fault. Afterall, the Energy Bill has been sitting in Congress and they have done nothing about it. (But let's not get into what is in the Energy Bill)
If there is a recession, it started during Clinton's term. If there is a huge deficit, it was caused by the recession and the war. (Don't mention the huge taxcuts and the lack of confidence in consumers and investors) If we don't have any jobs being created, it is because it is a "jobless" recovery.
If things aren't going well in Iraq, it's because of lack of patriotism or it's the "media's fault". If we don't get help from the UN, it is the fault of the French. If we don't get more votes than the Democrats in Florida, it is because the "liberal judges" are trying to cheat and give the election to Al Gore...etc, etc...
Now if the taxcuts don't work to stimulate the economy, it is because of the damage this "blackout" has done to the confidence of investors. There's always an excuse with the Republicans. It's an artform with them to see how ingenious they can be in blaming someone else for their obvious deficiencies. If it wasn't so tragic, it would be funny.

3. if there was one good thing to take credit for |
|
they wouldn't have to resort to the blame game.
Can anyone point to one policy decision from the WH and the republican party since 2000 which has proved to improve anything? Sorry, the destruction of the middle class does not count.
I'm sure they would rather take credit for a long string of successful policy moves, unfortunately there are none to be found, hence they must come up with some reason why their policies fail time and time again.
The outcome of the 2002 elections which put them in the majority in the house and the senate was unfortunate for them because its hard to sell the blame game when they are the ones setting the agenda and the ones with the numbers to pass this agenda. That's gotta be tough on folks who base their entire philosophy on scapegoating others for all the problems in the world.

4. When they blame the Congress....? |
|
Shouldn't the Democrats use that as an automatic reason to get rid of the Republicans in Congress? If you get rid of the body of the Repubs in Congress, the head will disppear also.
