"Moore's 'Fahrenheit 9/11' burns up County box office"

Reply 1 - Posted by: CajunGOP, 6/26/2004 11:53:06 AM

It's NOT true, dimwit!

Reply 2 - Posted by: kiwi2, 6/26/2004 11:55:22 AM

They should forget the ratings to see this movie.

Instead I recommend IQ testing.

Your IQ has to be room temperature, at least, to see this.

Reply 3 - Posted by: GettaClue, 6/26/2004 12:07:44 PM

If it plays around here, I'll be going to yell 'liar' throughout the movie. No, I won't pay to go - I have connections...

Reply 4 - Posted by: tomlandryismyhero, 6/26/2004 12:11:37 PM

thomas sowell said..."to be a liberal you have to be uninformed or ignorant...or both."

Reply 5 - Posted by: votedforbush, 6/26/2004 12:12:59 PM

Lisa Meyers - on MSNBC - did a 'truth squad' on this abomination and pointed out the lies - one example was Moore shown stopping a politician in the street in D.C. to sign a 'petition' to send the sons or daughters of politicians to war. The politician was a Republican, whose nephew was recently sent to Afghanistan. The 'documentary' is packed with lies to defeat Bush. Good for Lisa Meyers to uncovering this b.s.

Its so sad that you don't have a brain to think for yourself...

Reply 9 - Posted by: gusman, 6/26/2004 12:31:39 PM

Never underestimate the stupidity of a large group of people. It is on a movie screen so it must be true. What a dumd MFer.

Reply 10 - Posted by: antidem, 6/26/2004 12:33:41 PM

Big deal...They got the faithful out during the opening weekend. Let's see if it really has "legs".

Reply 12 - Posted by: erp, 6/26/2004 12:41:52 PM

I don't believe anything I read in the MSM. Drudge will have the actual number out soon enough. The more people who see this, the better. Even leftwing nutcases may think this movie is over the top.

Reply 14 - Posted by: Ladyhawke, 6/26/2004 12:45:47 PM

Drudge already has estimates up for Friday.

If this is true, I bet we will find out it was the result of some organized Dem effort, not unlike get-out-the-vote.

Reply 15 - Posted by: mountaintop2, 6/26/2004 12:47:51 PM

Sold out in Santa Fe too. Big surprise in a town where every other bumper sports a sticker proclaiming no war or Bush lied . You have to wonder how this so-called documentary is doing in more normal places.

Reply 19 - Posted by: Grommit, 6/26/2004 1:20:54 PM

From http://www.boxofficemojo.com/daily/chart/?sortdate=2004-06-25&p=.htm

911 8.2 mil
White chicks 6.8 Mil
Dodgeball 6.4 Mil

Not exactly burning the place up considering the competition and the qquality of the competition.

Shrek2 had an opening weekend of 108 Mil. I don't think that Michael Moron will come anywhere close.

Reply 20 - Posted by: tren, 6/26/2004 1:25:12 PM

Note that in the article they say the parking lot was filled with cars that had anti-Bush bumper stickers. Note that. The bumper stickers are not pro-Kerry. Not pro-Dems...

Reply 22 - Posted by: woopoo4ever, 6/26/2004 1:37:21 PM

Burlingame is mid-way B/T SF and Stanford U. SF has San Francisco Stare U. or, Socialist U. as it is called. So, the choir straddled the theatre and all the lefties were out in force (oops, not a good word to couple with lefty, sorry. NOT!!) Let's see how it does next week. Look at the picture on DRUDGE, MM looks maniaical as in Cookoo's Nest.

Reply 23 - Posted by: ScienceMike, 6/26/2004 2:15:45 PM

For a "so-called" documentary, $8.2 million is in fact burning up the charts. It's already in the #4 position for all-time grosses of documentaries from 1982 on, this according to the boxofficemojo.com listing. Whether the movie has the staying power past the first week or two is another question though...

Reply 27 - Posted by: youngtexan, 6/26/2004 4:07:24 PM

Imagine this, VP to Michael Moore "F U too!"

Reply 28 - Posted by: mominNoCA, 6/26/2004 4:14:52 PM

Wow. I'll bet it blazed through Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin and SF Counties! In fact, I'd venture that West Hollywood and Santa Monica thought this was the film to see, too!

The real test will be how it did in non-liberal areas.

I'd also be curious to see how Algore's forgettable global warming film did in these areas on release. Did it start out hot and burn out fast?

I'm betting that's what will happen with Moore's garbage. In fact, it will probably never catch on in non-leftist areas.

IRONY ALERT!!!!

Reply 17 - Posted by: Conserver, 6/25/2004 11:13:49 AM

Needless to say, but MM has a credibility gap as wide as his backside. He's an Anti-war profiteer who worships only the money, and yet can't see the American blood flowing from his actions.

1. No big deal.
They haven't accepted the fact that the South lost the Civil War yet either.

They're a bit... behind the curve.

7. Love the comment about how its not exactly burning up
..but it is when you look at the comparisons of how many theatres the film was released in. 838 vs. almost 3K??? F911 is whooping serious ass comparatively. Compare the $$ made by 911 and Shrek for instance. Then do the formula for if 911 had the same number of theatre release. Whoa momma.

16. No, Im comparing it to Shrek...
Shrek was released in almost 3000 theatres and F911 was released in almost 900. F911 has taken in a lot more money, for about a quarter of the theatres. This is a very good thing.

Now there's an honest Ldotter.

It explains why most of them will not see this movie.

Their IQ's have not achieved "at least" room temperature.

They showed this woman who protested F911 at a San Diego cinema, on the news tonight, and she was telling people not to believe everything you see in a movie. And that Michael Moore is just trying to manipulate the election.
Ha Ha ha!! Like bu$h & Rove havent been trying to do the same thing!!

...the list goes on.

They have whole stations trying to get Bush re-elected. Why can't we have a two hour movie?

If they were really patriotic, they would respect the First Amendment, right?

Apparently GettaClue won't pay to watch the movie because he/she has "connections"! This VIP must know someone REALLY big. Maybe his/her cousin is the manager over there or perhaps a friend serves tubs of popcorn at the concession stand.

Connections. Hilarious.
