38. Don't count on Canada. I'm not |
|
I suspect that if a worst case scenario occurred and Busholini suspended the elections and declared martial law in response to "terrists" attacks in the US, Canada would eventually be sucked into creating a police state here as well.
If Busholini was ruling as a de facto dictator under martial law I really can't see the neocons allowing us Canadians to continue on our own merry way right across their entire Northern border practicing those outdated, quaint old customs such as holding democratic elections and engaging in free speech and freedom of the press etc. For one thing that would be a very bad example for the millions of useless eaters now living under permanent military dictatorship in the USA.
It might take a year or two but within a few years I'm sure either overtly or covertly they'd arrange to have a Canadian government that was entirely sympathetic to the cause of never ending war and willing to take Canadians down the same path to a police state. It probably wouldn't take much more than a few "terrorist" attacks on Canadian soil to get our own politicians and armed forces on side with the Busholini agenda.
Also don't forget that we have oil and water, two resources that are going to become increasingly important in the not too distant future (especially in the case of oil if the Peak Oil theory is confirmed). You can be sure Busholini and Svengali Dick will be pretty darn sure that they will have control over those resources whatever it takes.
But that's just my opinion.

36. I'm with you Mari333 and others. |
|
I was just sitting and thinking about this the past couple of weeks.
Even as a child, I was not afraid to live in my own country. However, as a child, I didn't know all that was going on then.
Now as an adult (45), I am actually scared of my own government. I want to write Bush and Co. a nasty letter, I've wanted to put up a website trying to show everyone the constant lies and distortions that come out of this administration.
I'm also scared of another attack. They say it is imminent but they don't know when, where, or how, but the clock is ticking and we are down to two months now.
I'm also scared with the thoughts that our current selected Government were somehow, someway connected with 9/11. That they allowed it to happen.
I'm scared when I see Bush on TV about to give an interview or a speech. If anyone questions him, you can see the fire in his eyes. His arrogance and his constant use of the Good Lord's name to justify what he does . . . he scares me.
I think about our forefathers. They fought bloody wars with the British to gain freedom. Of course, these were not armies of 150,000 like today. They didn't have "Daisy cutters" or the like to use against each other. Could there be another Civil War? Could we stand behind the leader we choose and fight to get rid of the liars?
I mean could we citizens who feel so strongly about all that is wrong with our country stand a chance to lose whatever job we have, pick up arms, use them against our own military, and march on Washington to take our Country back? Would we be willing to kill other Americans? Would we be willing to die in the effort? Would we be willing to lose our jobs if we lived? Would we be willing to lose everything we have worked so hard for? Would we be able to protect our families?
Would any of this be the answer to our problems? People get out and protest with their signs and chants and angry words of opposition. However, first they get their license to protest (per our law) before they can do so legally.
Are any of you willing to sacrifice everything you have, including your families, to do any of the above?

I am willing to fight to the death to defend the country that myself, my father and grandfather wore the uniform of the U.S. Armed Forces. Unlike your unelected ass-wipe of a "leader", we served actively and did our duty. And when it is time to take our country back I will track down what ever trailer park your sister-humping ass is currently stinking up and personally smack that 40 ouncer of Pabst Blue Ribbon from your hands and shove it up your useless ass.

I think you're a coward, and that you are spouting nonsense on a message board to make up for the courage you lack, as well as the intelligence, self-respect, and dignity that I see in so many people like Mari333.
I think what I am tired of most from people like you, it is your talk. Because that's all you do. TALK. It's all you are capable of.
You would never have the courage or wherewithall to do anything you describe in your unintelligible diatribe, so you spout it out on the Internet like a child with an unchanged diaper, spewing and bellowing into the ether, trying to bully or scare everyone in your path.
As if you could.
Let me let you in on a little secret, cockroach.
You aren't fooling anyone.
You are nobody. You are nothing.
You have been your whole life, and you always will be.
You are nothing more than a shrill, mouth-breathing parasite, with absolutely NOTHING productive to contribute to your species, or the existence of it.
No one here is afraid of you. They pity you.
Heaven help you if you ever have a moment of Internet Courage outside of the saftey of cyberspace.
Reality is something you are probably not going to like.
AT ALL.

but there's no way I'm leaving my country to a bunch of rw lunatics. We will just work harder, that's all. I think more people are starting to realize that Bush*co does not represent the true Republican party--the party of Lincoln, Dirkson, McCain, etc. Their party has been overtaken by bigoted, intolerant, messianic fringers and I think as this fact becomes more obvious to those who follow politics infrequently, the pendulum will begin to swing back. The religious zealots may form their own party, who knows. The Grover Norquists may form their own party, who knows. The wheel keeps turning. I do know, however, that I am not leaving my country. Thanks for the concern, Canadian DU'er.

Though I have always been a Democrat, I did at least have some respect for the Republican party. It was never an issue of good vs. evil--the rw fringe has turned the debate into that. If they don't come to their senses, I think the Republican party is in danger of marginalizing itself twenty years from now; I truly believe most people are democratic (little d) at heart--I doubt anyone could live under rw religious leadership for too long. Just look what's happening now--I haven't seen Democrats this energized in years.

plans. We are out of here, god willing. Sorry we just don't want to stick around for the "it has to get worse before it gets better" part. We've been fighting the good fight for 3 years now and we are tired and feeling like it just isn't worth it anymore. I know it's wrong to feel that way, sorry.
(Two of our very best friends in the fight left last year, one couple to Costa Rica the other to Canada and this is probably what is motivating us the most, what would you do?)
Don't be scared. We are not and that is one thing we refuse to be.

17. I'm not as scared as I used to be! |
|
For a while there after 9/11, I was afraid the whole country was going to go down the shit can. There was SO much paranoia with the anthrax thing and then the DC shooters and the color codes etc. THAT was fucking INSANE!
But little by little I've been seeing the American people FIGHT BACK against these fascist mother fuckers. A few weeks ago when I heard President Gore call for the RESIGNATION of almost the entire Cabinet while saying that THIS ADMINISTRATION IS A THREAT TO OUR NATIONAL SECURITY (truly unprecedented!!!) I began to believe there is REAL HOPE.
Now, with the MM film and everything else that is going on (potential indictments re Plame and torture), I FEEL MORE SECURE THAN EVER.
This is not to say that these PNAC MANIACS won't yet pull some insane shit. They didn't steal an election and allow 9/11 just to give up EASILY -- of that I am sure. The 'war' for America's soul is not yet over -- but right now we have them on the run!!!!

I'm glad to hear that people in other countries are sick and tired of war. Now it is time for the American people to wake up to a reality they would rather not see: It is not only the Bush family and others of their class who have profited from war. We all have.
Unfortunately we've also paid a very high price for this -- far more than most of us know. It is a shock to discover that our country has been hijacked and is being flown into the ground by people who SAY they represent and protect OUR interest. More than ever, Americans need to be building FRIENDSHIPS with peoples in other nations around the world. We are very fortunate to literally have the tools to do so at our fingertips.
Again, thank you for your encouragement and support! :hi:

I want to admire Snowe and Chaffee and sometimes Collins - but when the noose is tightened by Frist, DeLay and Cheney - they march in lock-step with the most vile of Republican representatives.
Solidarity. Partisanship. Lock-step. Just like the USSR, Nazi Germany, and Fascist Italy and a few hundred military dictatorships. from the past of the would-be citizens of the world.
How would you like to be Snowe or Chafee and live with threats from Frist and DeLay? What rewards do they have from their job?

and I think things will get worse before they get better.
But I have to believe they will get better. I have to believe that.
And I am working hard to ensure that happens.
I am not leaving the country my people came to in the early 1700s. But it is not making me proud right now. I want my country to be a member of the world community not a bully-ass.
I hang my head in shame a lot nowdays. But while my head is down, I'll keep my feet moving, my fingers typing, my mouth talking, my hands registering voters, my mind moving working, everything in motion.
Hell yes. Work hard.
