Shrub to Name GOSS (Dweeb in F911) as Dir. CIA?
Edited on Sun Jun-27-04 02:22 PM by UTUSN
PNACer WOOLSEY was out pimping this GOSS person on the cable yak shows last week, saying that he would be "easily confirmed." Imagine the shock when this GOSS dude turned up in F911 being a total dweeb. Shrub has NO business putting in somebody before the new (and real) President is elected.

.... Porter J. Goss of Hotchkiss and Yale ....

...a classic political stunt last week. Goss held up a sign with a 1977 quote from John Kerry that argued for intel-budget cuts. "I got books full of that stuff," Goss said. "The Democratic Party did not support the intelligence community." When Democratic Rep. Norm Dicks fired back, pointing out that Dick Cheney was one of the biggest defense cutters of the "peace dividend" '90s, Goss somewhat sheepishly put the sign away. He hadn't meant to be "combative," he said. ....

But political observers in Washington think there's another explanation for his new profile: Goss, 65, badly wants to finish up his career in Washington as director of the CIA. Many of his Hill colleagues think he's campaigning hard for the job and carrying the White House's water by attacking Kerry. By confronting the CIA, Goss can also help the administration show that it is serious about intel reform. ....

And some White House officials have suggested that the popular Goss would be easily confirmed. But that may be more bad intel. Some Goss critics, even in the GOP, see him as another believer in the old-school notion that intel problems can be solved by throwing money and personnel at them. One says that if Bush nominates Goss, "then I want Tenet back." ....

1. Sad thing is, that as a Congressman, Goss likely WILL be confirmed easily.
...just as former Senator Asscrotch was.

2. But I heard a dem saying that at this point no political person should
be appointed to that post. Too much controversy already with the concentration of power on the RWingers.
But I am sure our tutu dems will fold...
