Poll question: How did you/ do you feel about our chances come November... |
|
consider your attitude now, compared to, say, three-four months ago, how you feel now, and the trend you see for the future.

3. We could do everything right, and still lose the election. |

Just like last time!
The old ballot box trick is a winner every time-
How do we win that?

10. OK, lets role play two options out and see what we do: |
|
.... Ok, Kerry wins by a landslide but does not win Fla and a few other key states just like Gore and will not receive enough electoral votes for a clear victory.. do we risk going the SC route once again?
.... Kerry is the winner of the 04' election. Civil war breaks out in the streets because republican operatives are inciting riots and instigating violence and mayhem protesting the Win in 5 major cities. Bush announces Martial Law is declared until the election results can be investigated and a confident winner of the presidency can be determined.
How do we wiggle with these two possible scenarios, when we know everything they say and do is a lie?

situation 1: Aint much we can do, the electoral mess is built in, press for recounts and investigates.
situation 2: well, we can either learn to sing "Oh Canada" or stay here and learn "Horst Wessel"... If you are more a revolutionary type, I think the course of action is obvious.

15. A few more thoughts needing your opine.. |
|
would it do any good to have the UN oversee the counting of the votes?
Do you think the democrats are contemplating a contingent plan as a counter objective?.. I hope so, because I'm sure the RW Nuttso's are doing their part formulating a stealth plan to continue this sham of a presidency. Maybe coming up with a plan making it permanent.

I honestly expect the Republicans to move beyond their Threat Chart and onto bigger, more deadly props.

We will sweep all races unless there is vote fraud - Which they already plan.
If we do not control this government after this election, it will ONLY be through fraud, and we shall have to consider extraordinary options to remedy that.

Calm down, buddy. We're going to win. It's just... I mean, come on. Look at what Bush has done to this country. We are going to win. Call me blindly optimistic, call me an idiot, but we will. There will be no voting fraud because they are NOT smart enough to pull it off. I think a lot of people are thinking "they did it before, they'll do it again!" but that is just false. They took advantage of a confusing situation and cheated us out through the SC. I mean, of course the chance is they did fraud the vote, but there was always a chance Saddam had WMD (ie next to none). So I'm sticking by that, but the point of this semi-rant is to just say RELAX! We have the world united behind us, and there's absolutely no way the shrub can beat Kerry, just no way at all.
And... not that I want to admit there's a possibility, but there is a chance Bush could win without fraud, so don't be rash, okay?

9. No incumbent President since 1948 |
|
Edited on Sun Jun-27-04 05:03 PM by louis c
(and that was before polling sophistication) Has won an election when their favorable rating was below 50% any time during the election year, and/or they trailed the challenger this late.
Nader's vote was 3% in 2000, and no one really knew the dimension of the difference between Gore and Bush. There is no way, knowing what we know now, that Nader can get more than 2%. Those 7% totals in key states are a hiding place for 5% of Kerry's votes.
Traditionally, undecideds brake heavily to the challenger as election day approaches. If you don't like the incumbent after nearly four years, the chances are you'll try someone new. I 1972, even McGovern received over 60% of the undecideds. In 1980, Reagan received nearly 80% of the undecideds. The rest of the challengers fell in between. This election is trending like 1980, with Bush in the role of Carter.
Here's a little anecdotal evidence you can try at home. Like the National Police Union and Lee Iacoca, there are many former Bush supporters now for Kerry. I know a few myself. There have been former Nader supporters also touting Kerry this time. I know some of these types too. I have yet to find a single Gore or Nader supporter from 2000 who now thinks we're better off with Bush. Remember that Bush actually lost in 2000. I challenge you to find one person that voted Gore or Nader in the last election, who's now for Bush.
It was good early, even better now, and expect a landslide of epic proportion come November.

14. I actually know TWO Gore voters who plan to vote for Bush this time. |
|
Edited on Sun Jun-27-04 08:56 PM by Lisa0825
But both are rather malleable types, and got involved with some major wingnuts. I have met MANY more Bush voters who now regret their votes.
I have felt for the past year that almost everyone who voted for Gore would do so again, and many who voted Bush would change over. Plus, the electorate is fried up this time, so I think we will have lots of new voters.
I believed a year ago that we could win if no election fraud (or not enough) takes place. But I have been feeling lately like an awakening is taking place, and we may just have a massive win. I don't even think it's impossible (only improbable) that Kerry takes Texas. But regardless, I think Texas Democrats are going to start regaining power this year. I have been attending a lot of events, and the enthusiasm, determiation, and numbers of new activists and volunteers are amazing!!!
