Told you so...Cruz now leads Arnold. |
|
I knew once the initial media sensation of Arnold running subsided that Californian's would return back to basics.
It's all in the numbers. There are several Republicans running and only one Democrat. A hispanic at that. A popular Lt. Governor and former Speaker of the California leg.
Cruz: 25% Arnold: 22%
Expect this number to go even more Democratic as we get closer to the election.
Davis is losing ground though. Which is good. I hate Davis. Why support a bastard DLCer anyway?

5. Excuse me, at this point we need a democrat in that statehouse |
|
I mean unless you want a Republican running the show who will allow blackbox voting in the state of California. We can kiss those 55 electorial votes away. THere are excellent times for us to help elect non-DLC democrats and that's call the primaries. At this point Bustamente is a great choice and because of his hispanic backgroun he will help reach out to the large hispanic population in California.
Personally, I'm looking forward to this whole recall mess backfiring on the republicans. And the beauty of it is we we win the recall; whether it is maintaining Davis or Bustamente winning, we will make Arnold UNELECTABLE!!!! Seriously. That stupid idiot must have done too many steriods and shrunk his brain in the process to think this was his opportunity to win California Governor. After the recall he will be nothing but another one of the sideshow circus members who paid the $3500 to get their name on the ballot. And his name will be crap for all future elections in California PLUS hopefully we won't have to tolerate anymore ARNULD movies either.
Goodbye and Good Riddance to you Schwarzenegger!!!

6. I know we Need a Dem! I was just asking a question! |
|
I truly wanted to know. Because I know nothing about Cal politics except what I read that Jack Swift had to say about Davis. And I was wondering how Cruz was different.
I think it reeks to have a recall at all under the circumstances.
I do know that arnie is a joke ..

But I do know that he and Davis don't get along. I'm not sure why though.

14. To be honest...maybe a repuke should win |
|
The white house is staying clear cause they know that a fix in cali wont happen before the 2004 election. They are hoping either gray or another dem is in power. That gives them a great issue to run against dems in cal. There is no way anyone can change it around by 2004. I think it would be good for a rep to win the recall...sorry as i know this will be unpopular. It is what I think.

If we justify losing preparing for future elections, we will always lose.

4. Cocoa, i've thought of that myself |

Also, Cruz could run for two more terms. I've always said that California Republicans are the dumbest people on Earth.

3. Wouldn't it be funny if this work in the Dem's favor? |
|
What irony. If it works out that Cruz wins the recall election this could be a big win for the Democrats. They could rid themselves of an unpopular figure (Davis) and place a Latin American in a key postion who could help energize the Latino vote for the Dem's in '04. Has this outcome been analyzed or lost in Arnold media lovefest?

9. Don't count your elections before they're won. |
|
Republicans can drop out, Arnold can pick up momentum, and the large number of undecideds works in his favor because of name recognition.
As for being happy about this, whether this turns out well or ill, it's still an example of democracy being subverted, which makes it twice in 3 years. That so many Americans are willing to watch democracy erode in front of their eyes has to be frightening to someone besides me.

13. being honest I have to say that smoking a joint is cool to me, but |
|
I'm pretty sure that there are plenty of folks that will be turned off. then you have the naked lady picture, the clip that hardball played with him doing the body lift with the two ladys, plus all of the womanizer rumors.
as this goes along and davis starts in with the ad's, I think arnold's support will start to wane. remember ventura was pretty hot when he started out, but he's not too hot now.

10. This is one poll, two months before the election. |
|
I hope Cruz wins (actually, I do like Davis, so I really hope he stays in office, but that's unlikely), but there are two months left, and one poll putting Cruz 3 points ahead of Arnold, while encouraging, is not reason to start celebrating. There is still work to be done if Cruz is going to be the next governor.

when the fact that Bustamante was a member of MEChA while attending Fresno State starts being bandied about? Will that affect his electability?

17. Well said. Here's Palast's opinion on the "DLC"er: |
|
" > Californians have found the solution to the deregulation > disaster: re-call the only governor in the nation with the > cojones to stand up to the electricity price fixers. And > unlike Arnold Schwarzenegger, Gov. Gray Davis stood alone > against the bad guys without using a body double. Davis > called Reliant Corp of Houston a pack of "pirates" --and now > he'll walk the plank for daring to stand up to the Texas > marauders." Someone should buy a clue. I can't believe that there are still DU-ers that didn't figure out what the recall is, and some who want a GOP-er. What happens in California with the recall will likely happen to all of us in 2004.
