Apparently, they feel Cheney is the albatross around Chimps neck so not wanting to lose, they go for what they think is a compromise. Dump Dick and all will be well. Indeed, they eat their own.

2. Perhaps GOP is grooming Zell Miller to take his spot after the convention

Miller is to speak either right before or right after Cheney at the puke convention. Here is the scenario I see.

The gop leaves NYC with Cheney on the ticket, but oh my, he has another heart attack right after it, and voila', since the country is so divided by the nasty democrats and their bu$h bashing, the gop executive committee decides they will just put Zell Miller on the ticket to 'unify' the country.

They must have some massive dirt on Zell that they are blackmailing him, considering all the shilling he does for them, and they can then always use it again to get him to resign next year and appoint another republican. That of course would assume they had control of the Senate where they could grease the skids to get their next boy in there.
