Will More Theaters Show F 9/11 Now? |
|
It sure would be nice, but if they'd have been smart, they'd have showed this awesome movie from the first. They've lost out on many, many, many dollars.

8. So far no theaters in my area |
|
are showing fahrenheit 911. May never happen for me as I live in Idaho. Boy, it's times like these where I wish I lived in a progressive state. I am visiting Portland On Friday, so I will have to wait till then.

3. In Hot Springs we have a Documentary Film Festival coming up. |

I hope we can get enough interest for him to show up. We screened Bowling for Columbine last year but he was a no show :(

4. I think this is awesome. |

This whole thing had a very perfect atmosphere about it. Look at it this way: a certain number of theaters decided to go it alone and be brave. They knew they were taking a risk by showing the movie.
Michael Moore got to be a hero. The theaters got to bask in the glory of doing the right thing, AND there was lots of money to be made. Isn't it nice to reward the good guys every once in a while.
Let the cowards wait a little longer. NOW, after the Cinderella story, they're screeching and wanting to be a part of the Winning Formula.
I say let them wait a little longer.....

A documentary as the #1 movie? I don't think theaters were willing to bet against historic trends. The right-wing backlash has turned this into the must-see movie of the year!

6. Over 800 screens for a documentary is huge |
|
Seriously, I'm sure they expected it to do well, but it's broken all records for documentaries. Prints aren't cheap, several thousand dollars each, so it's better to start conservative and build on word of mouth. Spiderman opens this coming weekend, and while lots of people will be going to see it, F 9/11 is still the movie that EVERYONE is talking about. As people go to see it in the cities and the numbers start going down a little, then they'll start pulling prints from the cities and sending them to new towns.

7. A couple hundred more screens to be added Wednesday! |
|
I started this thread earlier, but it has dropped way back now. It has a link with the news story about the 200+ screens being added: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=1880571
