Faa ha ha! Cheney gets a Bronx cheer from Yankee fans!
<snip>

Cheney, who visited both clubhouses after batting practice, watched part of the game from the box of Yankees owner George Steinbrenner and part from a first-row seat next to the Yankees dugout, where he sat between New York Gov. George Pataki and former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. Cheney was booed when he was shown on the right-field videoboard during the seventh-inning stretch.

But mostly it was a night of cheering in the ballpark.

5. What?
I went there to send ESPN an email complaint about the edit but the booing sentence was still there.

So that is good. At least a little truth in the sports arena.

15. Well, the NYT article that mentioned this booing has been scrubbed.
I linked to it originally from Eschaton, and the booing ref was buried down a few grafs. Now no boos, no pic of Cheney.

KKKarl knows how deep he's in it, and digs further. Good.

Hope someone has the original screen-shot.

17. Aha! Thank goodness a poster at Eschaton got it:
Screenshot of original.

Sanitized version: http://www.nytimes.com/2004/06/30/sports/baseball/30yankees.html?ex=1089172800&en=ef563dea12a67157&ei=5062&partner=GOOGLE

But it looks like they broke the boo news out into a separate article now:

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/06/30/sports/baseball/30pins.html

So, now I'm confused if the NYT is toning it down, or toning it up?

???

19. I KNEW IT!!!
I was watching the game with my very-semi Repub best pal (broken him down over the years), and I mentioned that the only thing that might cause people to boo during the 7th inning stretch would be Cheney, because you know a lot of people there won't like him.

While laughing, he suggested it might be the Red Sox...standing at attention.
