"It's all your fault DAMMIT, you're from Florida! Right?!" |
|
Edited on Wed Jun-30-04 11:47 AM by JanMichael
From my fairly conservative, self labelled "Reagan Dem", co-worker who voted for Bush in 2000.
He popped his head in my office, uttered those words, and stomped out. Afterwards I asked him WTF he was talking about and he explained that he'd seen Fahrenheit 911 last night and it got him furious at BushCo.. He was already disappointed with Bush/Iraq/Etc but this was apparently the straw that broke the back.
Big drip.
PS~ I answered with "Yes, I'm an asshole" to the FL quip. Mainly because he was being facetious.

8. Oh, I can't believe you haven't seen that yet!. Be sure to check out |
|
all the other animations. Some of them will get you just as riled, or sad, as F911.

13. I watched "Where have the towers gone?" |

That was pretty interesting. Some of this stuff was covered in F911, some not. What are the other animations?
I hate Bush. I really do. Never more so than now. It is awful to hate someone, really. Takes up a lot of energy. I wish I had something concrete to do to fight that sumbitch, but until the election all I can do is read and become educated. And educate others.
The Katherine Harris flash was fabulous, especially to a FL resident like me. I'm gonna send it out to all my Repug friends. It is so sad, so frustrating to see exactly how the bastards pulled it off. AND I'm so afraid it is going to happen again this November. They will just be more clever about how they do it. I can't believe this state was so raped by those brothers and Harris. We have all been violated.

15. There is soooo much you can do this very moment!! |
|
Seriously. Contact your Dem party. If it's like mine it will take so many contacts and too much frustration. Once your in the loop you will be asked to do something everyday!. Say no, create boundaries, and just work. I got recruited when I stood up and criticized the local Dems. I do know better but I deserved the recruitment to try to make it better.
Some of the tasks:
Registering voters
Precinct walking
Writing letters to the editor
Speaking for Kerry at local events
Helping with house parties. You may not want to host one but maybe you could volunteer to help at the event. Lots to do.
Helping at a Kerry or surragate event. Lots to do there but you have to coordinate with the folks there.
My advice is to check the local Dem sites and then just make too many phone calls.
Please volunteer!

18. Hey Cally, thanks for the kind words and advice |
|
I know I could volunteer for Kerry; why don't I? The things you suggested all sound good, and I'm sure I'll start by going to a Kerry Meetup but . . . I'm holding out until he declares a VP. That might sound strange, but trust me, I will volunteer no matter who the VP is. I just want to know where he stands before I work for him.
I think registering voters would be a fabulous thing to do, if I can find a link to volunteer for that I'm on it. We did that as much as we could during Clark's campaign.
You are absolutely right, though. I need to get moving, it will help me feel better about this whole mess. So depressing, really, when you think about who is in charge of our country, how he got the job, and what he has done with it. Makes me ashamed to say that Bush is one of my fellow countrymen. UGHH. And his brother is in charge of my state. It was paradise in FL until Jeb took over.

20. I think you will volunteer in your own time |
|
I have met so many fellow Dems who just aren't ready to leave their primary favorite behind. That's OK. We're all on the same side. There are other groups who are working on the election. Yeah, I know I'm being obnoxious...;-) (I was a Clark supporter)

21. Clark spoiled me for anyone else |
|
Damn shame we can't have a man like him in the Oval Office. I hope Kerry is smart enough to choose him for VP . . . failing that, I hope he will at least select him for another valuable position in his administration.
I like Kerry but I'm not madly in love with him like I am with Clark. If Clark had never come along Kerry would have been my choice. But Clark did come along, and this apathetic democrat was actually moved enough to volunteer all of my spare time to work on his campaign.
Actually when it comes to voting I would vote for a bologna sandwich over Bush. Kerry is a good man, and when he gets off the pot and selects a VP it will get very interesting.
BUT, you are 100% correct -- I will feel much better if I am working for the cause than if I were to sit around and gripe about Bush. I'll have to look and see where I can sign up to register voters. Darn good idea -- thanks again, Cally.

Your co-worker voted for Bush, so he's at fault much more than you are for having been from FL.
Tell him that he was part of the problem, you are part of the solution.
And tell him not to get fooled again.

I think that F911 took him from "Geez I made a mistake" to "Argh! We've been screwed!".
Which is a good thing:-)

There's definately enough blame to go around, isn't there? lol
Seriously though, it's facinating to hear stories like this. So many republicans and moderates are leaving the movie theater a different person than when they entered it.
