Should John Kerry go on the Howard Stern Show? |
|
I'm just wondering what everyone else thinks about it.
Like him or not, the King of all Media has the power to deliver millions of votes to the Kerry campaign and wants to do so.
He even said that Kerry can come on there and tell him that he doesn't support what Howard says, but use it as an opportunity to tell Howard's fan base why he's the guy that should get their votes.
I think he should, but that's just me.
What do you think?

Of course he should. After all, he will be the President of Mr. Stern's audience, he should let them get to know him. I do not think they will dislike him.

4. Kerry would have to be ready. |
|
Stern will go after him if he goes soft on the wrong questions.
I used to think no, Kerry shouldn't go out of fear of association, but then again, Cheney goes on Rush regularly, and it hasn't hurt him. I now think Kerry should go on Stern, to solidify his standing with Stern and his listeners, and as an opportunity to present himself as a real person.

14. Think of all the Repugs that have been on Stern's show |
|
Pataki, D'Amato, Whitman... the list goes on!

I think Stern is very careful about not hurting Kerry |
|
and face it, there are large segments of the populace that does not like Stern at all. A safer bet might be for Clinton to go on and talk up Kerry, followed perhaps by Howard Dean.... Just my very pragmatic opinion.

5. Kerry should dare Rush Limpdick |
|
to have him on his show. Or Hannity. Maybe he could get a few converts from there as opposed to Stern doing that job on his show.

7. Come on, Hannity would have Kerry on any day |
|
Hannity loves trying to get Kennedy on his show. Limbaugh hates to debate. But Hannity would love the boost from a Kerry appearance. The only reason Kerry isn't on the Hannity show is because he chooses not to be. Dennis K and Dean have both been on his show.

After Morning Edition ends at 9:00 I usually switch for an hour to Howard. Always good for a cheep laugh.
I listened this morning and I thinkg Kerry should embrace the support of Howard. Especially for those "NASCAR Dads" out there. Howard speaks to those people who feel outside the system, and those are the people that make up the main stream of both parties.
So John, go on Howard and comment on how sexy Robbin is and how Bah-Bah-Booie needs to kiss your a$$!
Oh my god that would be so funny!

8. I don't think it's a good idea... |
|
from what I've seen/heard of Kerry, he is quite lacklustre and porridgebland. Stern, although I don't listen to him, sounds like he's a fairly quick witted sharpie. They'd probably have to have the show very scripted for Kerry to come off holding his own.
I think Dean would have been a far better contender (and that's why he was burned at the stake), but that's old hat, can't go home again. I think almost anyone else on the ticket would have been better... but
now that he's the man opposing that pile of caca running things right now, I'd vote for a hamster instead of bush.

Stern's fans are about as a-political as they come. Getting an on-air in person blessing from Howard will win kerry a lot of votes.

10. The BIG problem is: How would he explain the fact that |
|
he voted for the 'indecency bill' that threatens to force Stern off the air - and the same goes for essentially the whole rest of the Democratic party.
Stern probably wouldn't bring it up cause he knows it would put Kerry in a tough spot - but there's no guarantee he wouldn't. Actually I would hope he would; its censorship - Kerry shouldn't have voted for it.

and Stern has repeatedly stated that he is fine with Kerry not appearing on his show. Stern will work to deliver his listeners whether or not Kerry appears on the show, but an appearance would definitely cost Kerry with those who believe that Stern is somehow immoral (Stern talks about sex and is immoral but Bush sends kids to die in an illegal war, rumsfeld orders the torture of iraqi pows and ashcroft tramples all over the constitution and they are somehow "moral" blech)

16. From what I've heard... |
|
...Stern has said that if Kerry coming on his show would hurt him, he would not let him come on.
A far cry from the past, where he would often endorse the first candidate who showed up on his program. That's how he endorsed Whitman and Pataki. That, and he despised Pataki's opponent, Mario Cuomo, who used to trash Stern.

17. Stern is smart - he knows it would be unwise for Kerry to associate |
|
with him. M. Stern understands that this election is too important to risk anything. He's said as much on his programme.
