If a Democrat had committed the crimes bush has, what would they have done
Edited on Wed Jun-30-04 06:56 PM by mopaul
what would the republicans have done to a democrat president who had:
invaded a sovereign nation. robbed the treasury. called the opposition nazis. allowed 9-11 to happen. sanctioned torture of prisoners of war. gutted the ecology laws. lied us into war and killed a thousand soldiers. killed tens of thousands of innocents.
lied hundreds of times. no understanding of simple english. no understanding of diplomacy. no understanding of the outside world.
no understanding of economics. no clue.

i honestly think that if a democratic president had ever done any of the hundreds of criminal acts bush has they'd have strung him up by now. bizzaro world.

and when kerry gets in, they'll continue the relentless character assasination and rabid nastiness right on through his term like they did bill. i hope kerry has big brass balls.

2. or throw a rope over a limb on some tree on the WH lawn and string him up

4. Oh God, mopaul.
I watched Harball tonight and it was the most disgusting sight. First there was a republican congressman on who blamed the democrats for all of the partisanship. He couldn't believe they tried to put Ollie North in prison for a scandal that wasn't that big on the whole scheme of things.

Next up...The Bush/Cheney national spokesman who again blames the democrats for all of the shit we see on capital hill.

I have had friends in my life who have looked me in the eye and have flat out lied to me. My response has always been, "If you could just hear yourself!"

For me it is not about a democratic President, it is the action (or in Bush's case) inaction of A REPUBLICAN CONTROLLED CONGRESS. A BJ gets you impeached, mass murder gets you a pat on the back. But all of this of course is the democrats fault.

5. Well, To Be Honest
The Dems DO in fact share responsibility, IMO, but NOT in the way the Repubs would have you believe.

The Dems rolled over far too many times and ALLOWED the fascists to seize what they wanted through force, over and over until finally, they realized too late, that they had in fact allowed them to just about seize it all.

9. Yes, but they would have the country believing
that all of the nations problems are solely the dems fault.

It was a dispicable display of republican party loyalty tonight. The BC spokesman was saying the country wants a "steadfast leader" like Bush. My husband and I laughed our asses off and said, "he obviously hasn't seen F911" or he wouldn't make that comment! :)

Bush can do wrong and the democrats are whiners and nasty and all of this partisanship rests squarely on their shoulders.

The republicans must be shocked that they are starting to fight back. They keep insisting that Kerry MUST denounce Gore, Dean, et.al from the wild-eyed coalition.

10. "The Wild Eyed Coalition!" LOL! I'm So Glad They Are Sticking W/ This!
It's so pathetic and destined to fail that it might actually bring down the whole Repub party. When a significant majority of the country feels that the country is on the wrong path and polls show a significant majority who plan voting Dem for congressional elections, the dumbest thing you can do is start a PR campaign essentially branding them as "wild eyed", which is what they are doing!

I LOVE IT! They are smearing a majority of the country w/ this slur and it can't fail to fail miserably!!! That majority will NOT take kindly to being slurred by these pathetic goons!

The RW has an affinity for torture.

On edit: Actually, there is no doubt in my mind that a Democrat would have been impeached and brought to trial for additional crimes.

8. No Dem would be in office long enough
to commit all of the chimp's crimes. As long as the repukes control Congress, any Dem president will be impeached almost immediately on some sort of trumped up charge. Even if the repukes can't get a conviction, impeachment itself will seriously weaken the Dem. Pres. and make it difficult, if not impossible, to get reelected.

12. They'd impeach a Dem for forgetting to floss...but....

I don't like O.J. Simpson. I thought he was guilty. If I'd been on that jury I'd have voted to acquit simply because of the disparity between the way blacks and whites have been treated by our justice system. When he got off, I felt it was a historic occasion--it meant that the rich can get off even if they happen to be black. Not that it is real progress considering that most people in this country aren't rich, and statistically their chances are much better in court if they happen to be white.

Clinton wasn't rich. Kerry is. Kerry won't be impeached. He may not do anything substantive for democracy in this country, but a rich guy will get special treatment, even if he's a Democrat. That's how it works.
