This is an entirely different Colin Powell than we saw nervously trying to be persuasive....Why is he soooo smooth and confident today?....I wonder what is up?

4. my guess....
he's one of the few people in the adm. that did NOT use the uranium lie. His UN presentation was around the time of the SOTU and Rummy's speech. So his relative credibility/judgement is lifted by this scandal.

Anyway, he's generally a pretty cool character.

11. only 'til the first Nigeranium question, then he was scared shitless
Suddenly he kept looking up and to the right, shifting around, bobbing about and getting a jitteriness to his cadence. His microphone kept getting hits from the movement and the CNN camera operator had to work to frame him.

At the beginning, he was polished, then he fell apart.

"overwrought, overblown and overdrawn"...what, is he talking about our country?

What kind of an excuse is the "...and then after that, when we REALLY started to look at it..." Is he saying it's okay to say things in the SOUA that could spark major wars without really researching them?

Nice suit, naziface. Say, does a suit like that come with two pairs of pants? Somebody hit that man's heiney with a seltzer bottle afore he goes up in flames.

13. i think he has finished setting rummy up for a fall
watching the inner-party struggle between the military commissar and the diplomatic commissar and the dick is the best part of the shrub admin.

to use an old army term, i think powell is about to put rummy's ass in a sling. i am not quite old enough to understand the origin of the term, but it sounds good. may be wishful thinking.

or better he may have arranged for the cia to screw rummy.

14. His son's vote on the FCC means Powell gets good press
He won't be going down with the rest of them. Since his son Michael Powell voted to allow the media corporations to become monopolies, they'll pay him back by posing Powell as the "voice of reason" in the administration.

Our first black president, a moderate Republican. Who'da thunk it?

16. Sniff...sniff
Do I smell a rose? I think he's going to come out of this smelling just like one because he knows (a) he was the one insider who was raising objections all along (b) his tormentors in the Rummy camp are going to get theirs (c) he gets to play the good soldier, his favorite role, all the way to beatification.

17. Well, I'd be willing to let one of these bastards be the snitch, as
long as the rest of them go to jail for a while. I can dream, can't I?? I hope he is cool and collected because he has the goods on his fellow WH denizens.
