What states would DeLay win? |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-10-03 01:44 PM by ButterflyBlood
I just really hope the GOP is stupid enough to run him sometime.
Here's what I say: he gets AK, ND, SD, NE, KS, OK, TX, UT, ID, WY, AL, MS and SC and possibly IN, MT and NC. That's it. The base of states he can win isn't even 100 electoral votes.

2. That's why we shouldn't run Kucinich. |
|
That's an argument, anyway.
The GOP would never, EVER run Delay. They understand that the appearance of centrism is important to the current crop of voters.
I do not think that Kucinich is anywhere near as wingnut as Delay, he's just the farthest left fellow I could think of in our party.
*Don't hurt me, LOL*

5. I think a better equivalent for him |

would be Cynthia McKinney. Although I do think she'd fare better than McGovern and Mondale, since the states have become more rigid in their partisanship since then, but outside of the northeast and west coast, she'd be toast.

serving as Speaker of the House. Hastert is only eligible to serve one more term under House rules, assuming that Democrats do not gain a majority by then.

DeLay is far too polarizing - he'd get some support from the likes of people who supported Gary Bauer and the black man whose name escapes me. I doubt he'd actually take any more than perhaps 3 states, and I feel sure he'd never get Alaska. We lean conservative, but in a more libertarian sort of way. DeLay has made his career as a Congressional bully, a fate he is consigned to IMHO, and he'd probably end up with a bullet lodged precariously close to his spine if he did run.
