Checks, Balances, a VP-Nom, and a last call to help with the tab
As a progressive Democrat I was happily behind Wes Clark?s campaign with my time, my activism, and my money (such as it is). When Gen. Clark dropped out I was tapped as far as I felt the money issue went, and I was demoralized. I had forgotten how impressed I was with John Edwards the first time I saw him on ?The Daily Show? and was holding out for my candidate.

Later, when it appeared John Edwards was going to challenge the more DNC oriented candidate for position in some Southern States I was again reminded, hey, this guy doesn?t have a chance to beat the Democratic machine, but I like his message and his attitude ? so knowing I shouldn?t, I did, and I dug into my penny-bank and wrote John Edwards for President a check. (really, I charged it on-line) I knew I was backing a loser and a winner at the same time, but it felt good.

So: Kerry sweeps into the pole position ? I am depressed. I have been grumpy, I don?t support his campaign, but I certainly don?t oppose it. However, John Kerry is the ham sandwich I?d vote for over George Bush.

Today was a breath of Fresh Air. Some progressive thought has been reinserted into the ticket.

I don?t know if it will stick. I believe there are two America?s and John Kerry is part of the one I don?t like, but he supports on occassion the side I will vote for.

I ask John Edwards to keep to his message, and I ask progressive, or even revolutionary Democrats like me to open their check books one more time, even better if it?s before midnight tonight, to show we support the party candidate and his wise choice for a second.

Thank you Mr. Kerry; and John, keep to your promises.

1. Give Kerry/Edwards a mandate by electing a clear, decisive mandate

by electing a majority-enabling Democratic Congress......and I think John Kerry will bring the leadership and fight to provide real closure to a 30 year US political detour. We'll be electing an ex-federal prosecuting attorney and public trial lawyer.....could be a very powerful combination.

2. ...and use that mandate.
Let loose the dogs of justice on January 22nd- the past four years should never be repeated, and nothing discourages like seizure of assets and jail time.
