1. They have to create the reality by saying it over an over
If people hear it enough then they think its true.

The economy is not good in my neck of the woods either

2. Will it matter that after four years of Bush we will have less jobs than..
when his tenure started? It hasn't happened since Herbert Hoover. Are we simply supposed to overlook that fact? Really?

3. Because there are enough GOPers in FratBoy's core that will....
...believe ANYTHING they're told by the NeoCon Junta, and the NeoCons hope that they can convince some of the fence-sitters that they're telling the truth.

As the old saying goes, "there's a sucker born every minute".

4. sorry, guys the economy IS getting better
it's just that there's little further room on the upside, and rising interest rates, high oil prices, and huge deficits will keep it that way.

also, the economy, while modestly expanding and distributing more goods and services, is failing to produce many decent jobs. but the labor market is only one aspect (albeit a major one) of the economy as a whole.

the more accurate way of putting it is that the economic growth, just like the tax cuts, is benefitting the wealthy, investing, corporate class and not the population at large.

6. If the econ. was really getting better,
the unemployed could get decent jobs and go back to work.

7. I don't know. I'm still looking for a job.
The last interview I had, the guy said that they got over 60 resumes and only called in 8 for interviews. I still didn't get the job because they decided to hire someone younger/with less experience so that they could pay them at the bottom end of the pay scale.

8. In propaganda, it's called the "big lie".
The say it because they can get away with it. The corporate media isn't going to call them on it.

The big lie can't be totally without some actual truth. It has to be plausible. The economy has finally started to produce more jobs, not good jobs and not enough jobs, but the direction at long last is positive. GDP is growing after being dormant.

So, there is a nugget of truth to an "improving economy". The fact that growth is based almost entirely on $500 Billion/Yr. in spending of borrowed money (the US deficit) isn't mentioned. Or the fact that they are fudging the numbers on every economic item.

Interestingly the stock market action lately isn't exactly supporting the ShrubCo feel good pronouncements.
