even without edwards on the ticket, bush still could not get over 50 percent. the numbers were around kerry 42 and bush 47, with edwards the numbers are pretty much tied and i believe we can take this state.

<PITTSBURGH (AP) — John Kerry will expand his television advertising on Wednesday to John Edwards' home state, Republican-leaning North Carolina, one day after naming the Southern senator as his running mate.

Shortly after the announcement Tuesday, Kerry's campaign unveiled an ad announcing "A new team for America" and featuring footage of Kerry and Edwards.

"One is a combat veteran with over 30 years of experience handling the toughest issues facing America," the ad says. "The other is the son of a mill worker who all his life has stood up for ordinary people against powerful interests."

The commercial began running Tuesday on national cable networks and will run in select media markets starting Wednesday. Kerry is making his first advertising foray into North Carolina, and the commercial will saturate the state's airwaves for at least a week.

On Wednesday, the campaign will unveil a new round of previously cut ads that advisers say will continue to be positive, fleshing out Kerry's agenda. Kerry had already bought $14 million worth of airtime for ads in July, but on Tuesday the campaign added another $3 million to its buy, boosting the level of ads in more than a dozen states.>
