The October surprise

Heard this interesting theory on the Pete Wilson show from KGO radio

Cheney hard on the campaign trail pushing himself beyond his physical limitations due to the heart attack he suffered at the beginning of the term. Suffers another heart attack even more debilitating then the first. Unfortunately and reluctantly he with draws from the ticket and is replaced by McCain who is know actively working for the Bush re-election team.


I am not sure Pete Wilson knows just how well this would all play out for the Bush team if it indeed came true.

Rumors have surfaced Cheney is going to take the fall for the Weapons of Mass Destruction Intel that led us into this war. The Plame investigation has led directly into Cheney’s office and even into the oval office, and the Plame investigation has more teeth then a school of piranhas.

So let’s say Cheney does have another heart attack, induced or other wise. He drops out and is replaced by McCain. Takes the fall for the WMDs and the Plame outing but Bush promptly pardons him because of his failing health and years of service to the country

4. My tin foil hat is firmly in place...and I agree with your

scenario. Bush must dump Cheney, but since he cannot admit error or mistake, Cheneys health will have to be the reason. Making Cheney the fall guy for all bush screwups is only logical.
I don't think America is gonna buy it, though.

24. The announcer never put all of it together

Nor was it completely his theory

This was, as he stated the collective theory being discussed in the news room that day. Meaning all of KGOs reporters were talking about it.

But the announcer made no reference to Plame gate and the WMDs reports coming down. I believe when you add those to the theory it becomes much more viable

...where these guys are concerned. However, I think if Cheney is outed as being behind the false WMD claims, the Plame outing and the Abu Ghirab scandal (and Rumsfeld along with him), Bush is going down, too. The stink is just getting too bad, and it's starting to rub off on Bush.

but we even see comments from members of Bush's base they would rather see some one else in the No 2 seat

It is a good way to give the WMDs scandal and the Plame indictments the slip provided Cheney is out before the indictments come down

Unless Bush produces Bin Laden out of a hat, there is no way he is going to be reelected. Hell, even if Bin Laden is 'caught' in October, the swing voters won't buy it (his base will believe anything).

Call me overconfident, but the Democrats haven't been this fired up in a long, long time. History has a way of repeating itself. Bush I ran on his victory over Saddam, and it didn't save him. The chimp will do the same with similar results.

I sometimes think McCain is, to us, what Hillary is to the Respublicans; someone we obsess over, and develop recurring theories about.

Beyond the fact that McCain and Bush don't like each other that much, McCain's appeal is that, while certainly conservative, he's a straight-shooting politician who's willing to buck the party line on issues he believes in. To become part of the ticket is, by necessity, to agree with the guy on top. If McCain sells out his principles and become another Administration parrot, his appeal to the Republicans and Independents who were leery of Bush in the first place is gone.
