Another Post 'exclusive'
Kerry picks Gephardt? Wrong!

Not since the Chicago Daily Tribune proclaimed "DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN," in the 1948 presidential election, has there been such a colossal flub.
Leave it to the New York Post to further tarnish its shoddy reputation with yesterday's front-page "exclusive" declaring John Kerry had picked Dick Gephardt as his running mate.
"KERRY'S CHOICE," blared the headline.
The paper was hitting the stands amid the first media reports that Kerry's real choice was John Edwards.
The Post's humiliating gaffe was greeted with derision and knee-slapping laughter here and abroad, while it created a fast market for copies of the paper on the auction Web site eBay.com.
"Ouch!" NBC Nightly News correspondent Fred Francis said on last night's broadcast. "Its place alongside other outrageous gaffes is assured."

Actor Will Ferrell, appearing on the "Today" show as blow-dried anchorman creation Ron Burgundy, held up the flawed Post and said with yeah-right mockery: "This is an ... excellent journalism periodical."

Drinks on us and egg on them
Editors at the New York Post surely needed a few cold ones yesterday. But none seemed to be in the mood when the Daily News showed up with a case of bubbly to toast the Post's front page "exclusive" — er, disaster.
The newsroom wouldn't take calls from the Post's lobby heralding the arrival of 12 bottles of Cold Duck and a congratulatory bottle of sparkling wine from Post owner Rupert Murdoch's home turf, Australia. A little note with the bubbly read, "Congratulations on your 'exclusive'!!! Have a nice day."

Newsers Lisa Fleisher, Ralph Ortega with bubbly.

You gotta believe tab's not credible
The New York Post front-page fiasco is sure to increase the tawdry tabloid's already embarrassing credibility gap.
A recent Pace Poll Media Survey, conducted by Pace University, found that the Post was the only major media outlet in New York to have negative credibility among city residents.
