Did Kerry just throw a "brushback" pitch at the NY Post? |
|
They have egg all over their faces on the Gephardt story...but did Kerry throw the egg?
A retty damn' effective way to out one of these RW scandal sheets is to show how unreliable they are by getting them to print something so obviously wrong. Then everybody will maybe start taking their other lies about you, the not-so-obvious ones, with a grain of salt.
In retrospect, maybe he set Drudge up with the false intern story as well, just to burn him a little.
OK, everybody, is this theory nuts or what? Time to start doing reality therapy on ol' Jackpine, who is sitting over in the corner and leaking a little drool this morning.

... is I certainly hope so. The Repugs have been playing media tricks for 15+ years. It is time for Dems to realize you cannot play Queensbury rules in politics any more, we didn't make the game but we'd better learn to play it.

2. I think it would be a very dumb thing to do |
|
They can make themselves look stupid on their own account.
If someone were deliberately giving them bad information they could use it against you.
It just strikes me as a high risk/low reward strategy to do this type of thing.

12. You gotta do what you can |
|
The Democrats in Congress just lay down and ask the GOP for more abuse.

5. Now, that would be truly brilliant. |
|
AND it has the side benefit of burning the RW media outlet.
I imagine the Post's hope was that their story would upstage Kerry's actual VP announcement & dilute the news effect.

11. Wow, Beet. You were way da hell ahead of me on this one, |
|
and your reasoning completely anticipated me. I would have just posted on your thread if I had seen it.

As bad as the Post is, I doubt they would have just made something up. They probablt got a "tip" from a reliable source who, as you so perfectly put it, was throwing a bushback pitch.

15. No, they certainly wouldn't have made something like this up. |
|
That would just be pointlessly setting themselves up for disaster. They had an informant or some other reason for thinking they had themselves a story.
Personally, I like the theory, laid out above, that Kerry just gave entirely new meaning to the term "Whack-A-Mole."

9. You know what worries me MORE about this whole issue... |
|
...is that the NY Post has been ALL OVER the news with this story. And they are apparently using "self deprecating" humor with their cover today "Kerry Picks Edwards (REALLY!)". All this publicity is sure to sell more papers, right? Almost appears intentional... anything to sell a few more papers. God, I hate having to try to decipher everything... honesty is non-existent.

10. No, not intentional. They had to do something, humor is |
|
probably the best they could do. What else are they going to do....cry and say we believed the mole we had inside the campaign?

13. It was someone the Post believed. Brilliantly intentional. |
|
Kerry told them to Cheney themselves.
