1. My friend's the same way...
...but Kerry has said he believes life begins at conception, but he doesn't believe in forcing his beliefs on others. If you don't support abortion, then don't have one!

2. I told him Kerry was not for abortion
but for the Woman's right to choose.

I also explained that he had a 12 year old niece (my daughter) who if raped at 12-20 I WOULD have the option to abortion because she would not ever need to have a baby from what would be the most horrible event to ever happen senerio...

he seemed to absorb that...

3. There is a difference
One can dislike the practice of abortion. I have no problem with that, and also have some ethical concerns about it.

But the same person, believe it or not, disapprove of any law banning abortion, which Kerry favors.

In short, Kerry does not like abortion, but he will not endorse any law banning it. I just wish they could communicate this more effectively.

5. Just remind him
How many people George Bush has aborted in the 80th to 240th trimester. . . if the real issue here is the murder of innocents.

7. Kerry is AGAINST abortion
because of his beliefs/faith.

http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/news/nation/9082205.htm?1c

"I oppose abortion personally," he told the Telegraph Herald in Dubuque in an interview published Sunday. "I don't like abortion. I believe life does begin at conception. But I can't take my Catholic belief, my article of faith, and legislate it on a Protestant or a Jew or an atheist …who doesn't share it."

He is for separation of church and state and pro-choice.

9. Kerry's Not For Abortion
Kerry is for personal choice, which is completely different and far more constitutional.

15. If life is so sacred to Bush, why is he killing innocent Iraqi children,
mothers, and fathers?

Why is he sending our soldiers to die to Iraq for NO reason?

Another point Ron Reagan made is Stem Cell research. If Bush is against Abortion and Stem Cell research, wouldn't he do everything possible to PROHIBIT in vitro fertilization:

http://www.stemcellfunding.org/fastaction/news.asp?id=975

Stem cells typically are taken from days-old human embryos - often left over from in-vitro fertilization efforts - then are laboratory-grown into lines or colonies. In experiments, those cells have been grown into needed tissues and injected into mice that have Parkinson's disease or spinal-cord injuries.

Because the embryos are destroyed when the cells are extracted, some conservatives consider their use similar to abortion.
<snip>

What does he think happens to all those "left-over" embryos that are not implanted? Unused embryos are thrown away, or "aborted"

If you are against abortion, you MUST be against in vitro fertilization

11. Republicans are also pro-Roe V Wade
Edited on Wed Jul-07-04 10:08 AM by DaveSZ
It's the best thing that has ever happened to them in terms of getting folks to vote against their economic interest.

So, in political campaigns they come out against it, but then appoint judges to the SC who uphold abortion rights.

As Rhodes would say:

"Love the fetus, hate the baby."

Especially Muslim babies....

He's willing to throw his lot in with Bush because Kerry believes in the right to choose? What about all the soldiers that * has gotten killed? Don't they count? He should just stay home.

22. That's such a stupid, short sighted mentality
And it drives me to drink. So the murder of thousands or Iraqi civilians and the deaths of 800 plus US Soldiers is okay in their book, as long as you don't "murder" what amounts to a poached egg.

I have a friend who converted to Catholicism when he got married and he's exactly the same way.

Don't these people realize there's far more at stake this year than a tired, relic of an issue from the 70s.

The Kerry/Edwards ticket needs to get the positive message out. *'s administration and the Radcon system is a house built of cards. Expose it an it will fall.

24. Doctor, a DUer, suggested we move from "choice"
to protection of the dr - patient confidentiality.

I think he has a good point. Not only does it help to move beyond that explosive issue, but it's conceivable that if the RW keeps going the way it is, there will be intrusion into *all* of our medical records.

Dr - patient confidentiality...... A right we have taken for granted, that can be taken away if we don't hold the line on this.
