The right bashing Kerry for selecting a Rich White Guy as VP.
On Crossfire yesterday, Fucker Carlson was criticizing Kerry for picking another rich, white man. He asked "were there no qualified women or minorities that could have been selected?"

Of course, this argument is insane, as a Republican presidential candidate has never once nominated a minority or a woman on their ticket. Granted, the Dems have only done it once, but for the right to try and take the high road on this is just laughable.

But it got me to thinking if they're just laying the groundwork in the media for when they eventually replace Cheney on the ticket with Powell or Condi Rice. It could happen...

1. Will Cheney be "heart-attacked?"
Perhaps a sad case of his microwave oven zapping his pacemaker?

2. Oh, right....Cheney is poor, I forgot
And as for Condi and Powell, they both sure have a lot of credibility, both as members of the Adm. and as good representativs of minorities. LOL.

3. Yeah, a rich "Oreo" would be much more representative...
of all those minorities that the republicans are fighting for.

11. It is funny.
I saw something on CNN that said that Blacks heavily preferred Kerry to Bush.

A truly and deeply pathetic response from a supposed master counter-puncher like Rove.

5. The GOP is the White Bread Country Club
That points to the token black couple as evidence of its "diversity."

Meanwhile, in the real world, there are 38 black democrats in the House of Representatives and ZERO black republicans.

It could happen. . .
But it won't. George knows his base, and his base doesn't want a woman or a black man (let alone a black woman) on the ticket. It's okay if they're on the sidelines, but they certainly won't be in charge.

No real suprise about the Rich White Guys thing. The Republicans will try to paint Bush as Populist despite his Fortunate Son status, and will just downplay Cheney's corperate past no matter what the context of the statement. They have to, considering all the flack he is taking over it. They also have plans, most likely, to play the "Edwards is a lawyer and all lawyers are evil!" card, which has backfired before, and will backfire again.

16. HA!
Yeah, if they 'heart attack' Cheney, and put up Rice or Powell, a lot of their base might either vote Constitution Party, or...even funnier...for the Rich White Guys on the Democratic ticket!

13. They have a point
We really should be past the point when we have tickets of two rich white men. I think Edwards was the best choice of the names I saw mentioned most often, but there really were better choices who were not white men.

Of course, Carlson making that point is as hypocritical as Republicans saying that six years in office isn't enough experience for VP, but plenty of exeperience to be President.

Hey, we should add that one on the next list of "things you have to believe to be a Republican" email.

14. Oh, Tucker! Yes, and how many women & minorities are on
the GOP ticket, huh Tucker? He spent like 5 minutes yesterday baiting the Dem guy because Edwards isn't a black woman.

Huh?

They have nothing, apparently.

15. I Just Put Tucker's Little Rant Through Babelfish
It's a translation service. Here's what it came up with.

ENTER WORDS, PHRASES, SENTENCES, OR WEBSITE TO BE TRANSLATED:
John Kerry picked a rich white guy as his running mate? Were there no qualified women or minorities that could have been selected?

PLEASE SELECT A LANGUAGE:
FuckSpeak --> English

TRANSLATION:
The Republican Party could give two shits about women or minorities, but the fact that we openly tell them to take a long walk off a short pier means that we're not hypocritical when we select a Pres/VP ticket that features two rich white oil men from Texas. However, we really wish that the Democrat Party would nominate a black homosexual woman so that we can fire up the brain-dead, inbred, racist, sexist, homophobe base of our party.

about black candidate being "overlooked." Now they're trying it with blacks and women. Same old pathetic attempt that falls on deaf ears each and every time.

18. Tucker logic
NOTE: I posted this in another thread yesterday. Thought I'd share:

Tucker Carlson asked why the Dems, the so-called "Party of the people", didn't name a woman or minority as running mate. He mentioned Carol Mosely Braun, Hillary Clinton and Diane Feinstein.

CMB served one term in the senate, and it was riddled with scandal. Lots of baggage. Plus, she didn't set the world on fire in the primaries.

Hillary Clinton, by his definition, has less experience than Edwards, in that she's been in the senate only three and a half years. Plus, she overshadows Kerry too much, a big no-no. And she pulled herself out of consideration.

And Diane Feinstein, as experienced as she is, comes from a state that is solidly Dem. No geographic advantage whatsoever.

If somebody like Tucker Carlson has to ask these questions, what the hell is he doing working as a pundit?

And there was no mention of Dan Quayle anywhere. He had less experience than Edwards.

19. Dear Tucker
Not being a student of recent American history must be your problem. Having won the 2000 election only to have it stolen by the most corrupt lying Admin. in history. We realize that winning is not enough. We must win overwhelmingly to overcome all the election fraud, Lying, and corrupt supreme court. This problem means we must fight fire with fire, meaning we will not use a VP choice that would disappoint all the recent republican defectors. Please feel free to contact me at (deleted) to discuss your lack of insight. Please realize Democrats don't hate republicans, We welcome them to our party daily.

The they'll harp on that.

On the bright side, they don't seem to have alot to work with. The best they could do with Kerry was to call him a "flip-flopper", which in my opinion is way to nuanced to be an effective smear.

He IS the American Dream personified and now they attack him for pulling himself up by his bootstraps.
