Mike Meehan says Dems have 21 states in play now.
He's an advisor to the Kerry campaign. He said they just added NC to make it 21 states. What are the other 20? I thought I was hearing it was a lot less than that.

14. These states are safe for Dems and not "in play"
Edited on Wed Jul-07-04 12:42 PM by TruthIsAll
Put it this way: if Kerry lost any of these, he would be in deep do-do, because they all went for Gore last time..

Illinois
Maine
New Jersey
Washington
Michigan
Minnesota

4. I Think He Means Kerry Can Win 21 Total
That number probably includes safe states like CA and NY and the battlegrounds like PA, FL etc. I think Edwards ads a few states to the battleground category that were once considered fairly safe for Bush, like NC and VA.

7. No
There were already 18-19 recognized battleground states. The Edwards selection appears to have added a couple in the opinion of Meehan. Kerry sure as heck better win more than 21 states.

8. I really hope you're right. I just have been hearing something like 13
or maybe 15 states in play. I don't necessarily share that opinion. I think there are soooo many things brewing right now, like the Plame investigation, 9/11 report, CIA problems, etc., I think so much will happen in the next 4 months, this election will be Kerry/Edwards by a much larger margine than they're talking about today.

16. From what I've been reading here, Texas
itself may be in play. That would be a sound drubbing to take the monkeyboy's* adopted state away.
