"KEEP OUTTA EDWARDS' TURF" spray-painted on overpass in NC--now with PICS.
Edited on Wed Jul-07-04 12:46 PM by Lex

On I 40 overpass in NC for Bush's Raleigh fund-raising
visit this morning.

Some protestors out this morning in NC. There aren't any
pictures of the total crowd estimated to be around 100 by
another poster who was there.

4. Looks like it's already been scrubbed off though. :-(
According to the local news website:
"An Interstate 540 overpass at Ray Road was scrubbed clean by DOT crews before the president could read, "Keep Outta Edwards' Turf!!"
http://www.wral.com/index.html (click on "photos of president's (sic) visit")

oh no, the Chimp must not be upset! We must not let the Great Leader read those horrible things!

8. That figures!
He was mighty upset today during his press conference. He didn't even have the composure to handle himself, much less answer any questions. I was afraid he would lose it before he ran out claiming a reporter was too hot.

36. "Bush helps boost Lemonade Sales"?
from the link:

President Helps Boost Sales At Local Lemonade Stand
Bush Stops For Refreshment, Provides Great Photo Op

RALEIGH, N.C. -- President George W. Bush made an unscheduled stop Wednesday on his way back to the airport after attending a fundraiser in Raleigh.

Heather Dew

A lemonade stand and two little girls brought the motorcade to a halt.

It was a perfect photo opportunity for Bush -- stopping to buy lemonade on a sizzling summer afternoon and giving two young entrepreneurs a day they never will forget.

"I was thinking: 'Who else has served the President lemonade?'" said Anna Lehto, co-owner of the stand.

Lehto and Heather Dew are rookies in the lemonade business. In fact, Wednesday was their grand opening and Bush their third customer.

...Holy Moly!

People are fired up here. My husband went down to S.C. on business today and says everyone he talked to in a rural small town there wants Bush out badly and is thrilled about Edwards.

19. Wish it'd been a sign. I'm against defacing public property.
It's just tacky...and it costs the taxpayers to have it removed. A huge sign hanging down would've been better.

21. they (whoever they are) hung some signs up a few weeks back and used

bottles of water as weights, and they had to call out hazmat crews. I have it on reliable information you can post your sign in the free speech zone above your bathroom mirror.

23. Hooray for NC! I love this country!!
I have been saying all along that the Bushistas have wildly underestimated the opposition. It is far larger and broader than their worst nightmare.

God bless those great ladies out in the heat.

Give Americans the facts, and they will do the right things.

I LOVE THIS COUNTRY!!

Edited on Wed Jul-07-04 07:56 PM by Lex
Are you referring to the spray-paint or one of the signs the ladies are holding?

On edit: You do realize that Bush was in Raleigh NC today?

That was spray painted for his motorcade to see when they took him from the airport to his event? That was what I wrote under the pic posted.

28. Saw that
Alot of protesters went to the capital and then threw a bush retirement party at Greenshields pub. I saw a truck go by that had "Retire his ass" painted on the large van body.

29. My wife and I attended...inspiring!
I would estimate that about 300 people - from children to seniors - turned out for the Dubya retirement party in mid-90 degree, high humidity heat...we met at the Capital, lots of signs were passed out - including some brand new Kerry Edwards signs...we chanted, the news showed up - we marched through downtown Raleigh chanting, many cars honking their support - ended up in Moore Square for a series of inspring speaches, the best of which was by Elaine Marshall....after nearly 4 years of desperation, I can feel the tide turning! We are going to see Kerry and Edwards at their live rally on Saturday...can't wait!

34. I Love it!
And personally I cannot wait for the Cheney/Edwards debate. I think I should get a betting pool going for how long it will take for Edwards to make Cheney completely lose it and show how much of an ass he is on prime time. My bet is on 5 minutes.

He normally wears such a haughty frown which will not be appealing standing next to Edwards and his pleasant grin.

38. ty robbien, a tidbit to ponder
Bush's favorite quote, from Paul Begala's Great book "Is our Children Learning",is "Let them hate us, as long as they fear us". This is a quote from the Roman Emperor/Tyrant Caligula. GREAT ROLE MODEL THERE "Dub-ya". Let's not forget what happened to Caligula. I guess "Dub-ya" never read the Roman histories. Well, that or any other histories.
"Pliny the Elder? What's that soppost'a mean? Is that French? I don't like them French folks."
