edwards has clintonian appeal
edwards brings a natural connection to most people because his background has not been one of privilege. he can relate to most people because he rode in the same boat a lot of us do. gore vidal said we have two right-wing parties in this country- the democratic and the republican parties. i think that clinton oozed with "i am just like you vibes" and edwards does the same. with all others on the ticket you get a bunch of white guys who come from privilege who see politics as a sport and a duty to preserve the status quo. i do not get this feeling with edwards. he knows what common people go through and this will only help us win.

2. I agree, Edwards is Clinton without the zipper problem
He did one hell of a job raising his children. I looked at the web page dedicated to his son Wade and that was one decent kid.

I was in tears when I read his essay about being a good American.

I am beginning to think that Edwards just may be the real deal.

You would prefer Gephardt because he would be a weak VP candidate.

I doubt that John Edwards has forgotten his working class background.

15. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Republicans can't STAND it when someone who worked hard to earn their money legitimately actually wants to make a difference, GIVE BACK and FIGHT for the rights of others to overcome obstacles and do the same.

Having "enormous wealth" is not the issue. You should have just made it easier on yourself and said "limousine liberal." We know that's what you were really thinking. Nice try.

Hasta la vista.

18. Wrong-- sort of
Very often people who grow up in families like Edwards and go on to have incredible financial success later on in life never forget their struggles. I've known several people like that both personally and professionally.

Some became greedy fucks, but some also never forgot and understood how fortunate they were. I don't think you can make a blanket statement on it. It's a case by case thing. My hunch is Edwards hasn't forgotten where he came from even though he's become fabulously wealthy, from work I might add as opposed to inheriting it.

24. "von" ribbentrop republicans
a lot of people who come from humble backgrounds make money and then change to republicans as a badge of their newfound status. ronald reagan is a shining example of this phenomena. it is just like ribbentrop , hitler's foreign minister henchman added a "von" to his name as a symbol of his new elite status. a lot of "von" republicans will come back home and pull that democratic level in November. john edwards could have been a von-republican but he stayed true to his roots. you gotta respect that.

25. No, you attacked the VP CANDIDATE, as I said in my post.
Is basic reading in the curriculum at the Breck Academy?

Here's your very first post:

"I'm not so sure Edwards knows what common people go through any more -- since his enormous wealth was earned from huge lawsuit awards. Lots of hair appeal, but where is the experience?

I would have preferred Gephardt, to appeal to more DNC voters (and moderates on the fence). JFK's poll-driven VP choice may lose it for us. "

That may not be a vicious attack, but it's not complimentary to the VP candidate.

Would that be remedial? And FYI saying you "attacked" and later labeling your remarks as "not complimentary" is not a contradiction, it is called logic support. Obviously hair shampoo school didn't teach you that. WTF is ickle? You are so GD stupid my teeth want to fall out.

13. Edwards reminds me of Russ Feingold
He exudes optimism and enthusiasm.

And I don't buy this "lack of foreign policy experience" shit. He's better qualified today than Bush is. Bush just doesn't have the "feel" for foreign policy.

Edited on Wed Jul-07-04 01:32 PM by RatTerrier
Including the leader of Pakistan?

I'll bet Edwards could answer that question, having served on the intelligence committee.
