ACTION ALERT: Dem Platform Meeting in Florida
Edited on Wed Jul-07-04 02:07 PM by DNCnotDLC
Here's an important note from the DNC web site:

Platform Events Schedule
July 9-10 :: Miami, FL
"A Plan for America" — Meeting of the Full Platform Committee

The Platform Committee will meet in Miami at a location to be determined. Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack, Ohio Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones and Los Angeles City Councilman Antonio Villaraigosa are the Chairs of the 186 member Platform Committee, which is responsible for reviewing the draft and recommending a proposed National Platform for approval at the Democratic National Convention. The Committee's Report will be voted on by the delegates to the Convention.
The Democratic Party's "Interactive Platform" has been absolute BULLSHIT. The DLC has railroaded its tired "third way"/"New Democrat" platform down the base's throat ever since the bigwigs decided that Kerry was more "viable" than Dean.

The idea that the Democratic bosses, like Terry McAuliffe, are going to listen to what the Democratic Wingof the Democratic Party is a joke. Hell, on the page that links to the "Interactive" platform, they also link to "John Kerry's positions on the issues." Those positions include ...

*** "Under John Kerry's plan, more than 99 percent of taxpaying companies will see their taxes go down."

*** No support for gay marriage (only "civil unions")

*** Keeping our troops in Iraq

In this election, the big prize is the President, and if Kerry wins then HE will tell the party like to think (like Cheney does with his party). Are real progressives going to allow Kerry and the other DLC'ers to just ignore the real people and push their campaign down our throats?

THey've already succeeded in keeping Ralph Nader out of elections. Now they want to shut up progressives -- after all, where else will we go?

I'm tired of this Bushshit getting dressed up as our "Interactive" platform. WE are the party, not Terry McAuliffe. If you want to make a difference, then call the Democratic HQ and tell them. 202-863-8000 Or email them.

Better still: if you're in Miami this weekend, be there and make your voice HEARD. WE ARE THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.
