Enron collapses in 2001 yet it's not until 2004 before the CEO of the company is indicted.

3 extra years of freedom.

2. I'm sure he had PLENTY of time to get his affairs in order
He won't see prison time for YEARS so that 3 years before indictment could translate into a decade before prison after trial and appeal.
