Rove: Edwards is "more liberal than Ted Kennedy,"
Edited on Wed Jul-07-04 06:43 PM by wicket
http://www.boston.com/news/politics/president/bush/articles/2004/07/07/newsview_bush_sharpening_attack_lines/

Bush's strategy will be to try to convince voters that Kerry and Edwards are "out of the mainstream of America when it comes to the war on terror, the economy and values," said Karl Rove, Bush's chief political adviser. He said Edwards, a North Carolina senator, is Kerry's "ideological soul mate."

-snip-

Rove rejected the idea that Edwards' presence on the Democratic ticket would cost Bush North Carolina or threaten the Republican hold on the South.

"It's hard to sell a liberal in the South," Rove said. He said Edwards is "more liberal than Ted Kennedy," the Massachusetts senator.

Rove argued that it would have been far more daunting if Kerry's running mate were from the industrial Midwest, which encompasses some of the election's battleground states. Rove questioned whether Edwards would resonate with working-class people in the region.

------------------------------------------------

Wow, Rove is going LOONY with anger! So desperate :D

Atleast some of the people I know do. They don't even understand the policies liberals and conservatives support, but they've been told being liberal is a bad thing.

3. Has He Been Drinking?
One of the reasons Edwards did so well in Iowa is the fact that he did connect with working-class people. He also won both North and South Carolina in the primaries.

He polls well in Ohio too.

I agree with another poster who says that Karl has been mainlining twinkies

6. Yea, and it was a coincidence that Bush was in NC today.
I laughed at that one this morning. This trip was planned a LONG time ago, it has nothing to do with Edwards being on the ticket.

I hope Edwards does enable Kerry to win NC....and SC, GA, TN, and MS. But if it doesn't do anything else, it seems to be forcing the Pubs to spend time and resources in those states.

26. Wouldn't It Be Interesting...
To do a search on GOOP fundraisers that took place yesterday and see which states had them. Wanna bet there were lots of Limbaugh family members hanging around St. Louis and some Iowa hogpoliticians snarfing down free food in some Des Moines ballroom as well. Yep...when it comes to orchestrating events, Rove is a genius.

Too smart by half!

31. Really, you have to laugh
at how absurd it is to call Democrats and Progressives "commies." It's completely out of touch with reality, and is just a really cheap and dirty shot. I consider myself to be pretty liberal, and I don't think I'm anything near advocating government ownership of all means of production and distribution. It just shows how ignorant they are.

And people seriously believe this -- I got in an argument with one of my relatives, and this came out of his mouth: "Well Bush is better than those goddamn commies or whatever."

I'm like -- is this 1943 or fucking what, you lou lou? Where are the commies, who are the commies?

Bill Clintons was SOOOOOOOOOO communist. You can't even firehose the red off him...:eyes:

41. You would think so.........
Apparently, there is one of those "scoring" systems for recording senators votes and tracking whther they voted "right" or "wrong" on an issue (like the ADA rating) and on it, Edwards scored lower (or higher) than Teddy and was thus "more liberal".

Edwards has been VERY liberal since he decided he wasn't going to run for reelection in NC (for obvious reasons). Lifetime, he's about average for Democrats.

Hopefully, people are bright enough to realize that Republican administrations drive the country into the ground while lining the pockets of the wealthiest people only. Liberal is a good thing and anyone who doesn't realize that, has both been manipulated and does not know the definition of the word.
