I heard Edwards on the radio tonight
CBC is making a BIG fuss about Edwards being VP. They played a long sound-byte of him speaking at some rally.

He sounded good, enthusiastic and like a seasoned professional politician. He reminded me of Paul Martin's oratory style.

Now I understand what people have been talking about with his Southern accent. It's there, but not so objectionable as to drive me into panic attacks (I've got issues). I could see it resonating well.

1. What's the problem with southern accents?
I think they're rather charming. Dr. Droopy crack psychologist is in. Have a seat and tell me about your childhood.

7. Make sure you bring smelling salts when you vote. Don't want you
to faint and not get your vote counted.

4. North Carolina Accents
I like a lot. There are Midwest Northern Missouri accents and Louisiana accents and with practice you can separate them.

5. Best of all it's a genuine southern accent
that comes from being born in South Carolina and not the fake Texan accent that * affects. As a Texan, I like hearing real cowboys talking, especially stories about their work. I'm talking real working cowboys not rodeo play acting cowboys.

6. He has a beautiful voice, yes.
I was telling Mr. Nownow, I heard something on the radio, a clip from an interview Edwards had done with somebody on NPR a few months ago. I could listen to him read the Yellow Pages for twenty minutes without moving. He's an attorney -- he's honed that talent, and he's quite gifted that way. Whether he's a seasoned politician or not, he's definitely a seasoned orator, which will serve him -- and the campaign and, hopefully, U.S. Democrats -- well.
