I just got back from my monthly Democratic club meeting. My county is predominantly Republican in make-up. Of course the meeting was about the coming election. They were organizing volunteers for voter registration and precinct walking. Our Democrats got the idea of registering people coming out of F-9/11 and it's been so successful they keep running out of registration forms.

The people organizing the precinct walkers said that we would only be talking to other Democrats, not Republican. So what happened? Some guy at the back of the room spoke up and said he was a Republican but was going to vote for Kerry, because he couldn't stand Bush anymore. He said many of his Republican friends feel the same way and that we should make a point of talking to the Republicans about the issues as well as the Democrats. He said they are anxious to listen.

This is big. When I first moved up here before election 2000, the Bush/Cheney bumper stickers and lawn signs were like a forest. I noticed this time around I haven't seen a single sign for the Prez and V. Prez.. There have been a few for local Rep. candidates, but none for the federals. Oh, I do believe for sure now that Bush is toast and Ahnold isn't going to be far behind in getting the boot.

5. we were going to 'team up' with the Fairfax (Virginia) County Democrats

to set up the Virginia Kerry Office...but it has become apparent that many Virginia ReTHUGlicans wouldn't consider walking into an office shared with Democrats, however, they will vote republican for Kerry....

did you see all the great signs that the Kerry campaign handed out in Norfolk Virginia during Kerry's speech?...the signs: "Republicans for Kerry"

you hit on a VERY big issue....many Vets and Military and their families STILL want to be reTHUGlican (which is totally insane, since they are hurt the most from reTHUGlican policies and the perpetual WARS)...but they WILL vote for Kerry, especially base on his stellar Military Service and hard-work for more than 30 years for VETERANS and their rights and their families, their medical care, their rehabilitation and jobs, etc....

6. Oh another good site.

I will hand them out to all Republicans who are interested when I do my precinct walking. This is something that we hadn't thought of doing, but thanks to that man it's a whole new concept.
