There are no plans to reinstate a military draft and the Bush administration does not support conscription, the Pentagon's top official for personnel and readiness told Congress yesterday.

"The administration does not support resumption of the draft," Chu said, responding to a question from Rep. Curt Weldon (R-Pa.). "There is no secret plan on this front."

concession will be made until after the election. All the signs are there -- the GOP knows this, Bush knows this, and the Pentagon knows this. But they think, or at least hope, we can't put 2 and 2 together...

2. Plan is not secret.

It's public.

Just not well known.

If we need another 20-30K soldiers, no draft is needed, just re-deployment. Above that, we have to pull more out from Iraq, or move from Germany/Japan/UK/Domestic etc. to the theater. Ready reserves have already started getting pulled in.

After *that*, draft. Maybe once we need 50K more.
