Lets Say John Kerry Wins And By 2006 Declares The Iraq War Over |
|
Should he hold a victory parade for the returning troops, and if so, would you go to it?
As much as I opposed the war, I think I wouldn't mind going to a welcome home parade for the troops. It would bring some measure of closure to the whole affair and I think it would be great to see President Kerry up there, honoring the troops for their bravery and sacrifices.
But...
I could see how some would say that since the war wasn't justified in the first place, the last thing we should have is a victory parade once its over.
I'm too young to remember, but I'm pretty sure there were no victory parades for the soldiers returning from Vietnam, right?
So what do you think - parade or no parade?

1. Victory Parade? No. Welcome Home Parade? Yes |

The Federal Gov't should make available funds for communities to hold special parades on Veteran's Day in honor of those men and women who have served in hostile conditions. We honor them not because we agree with the orders they have been given, but because they follow the orders they have been given which allows me to sip my latte and read comic books.
