Ridge to Outline New U.S. Threat Information
Thu Jul 8, 2004 10:41 AM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge will outline new intelligence about possible attacks planned against U.S. targets on Thursday, the White House announced.
Spokesman Scott McClellan said Ridge will hold an 11 a.m. EDT news conference on the "status of the threat," at a time when the United States is preparing for the Democratic and Republican presidential nominating conventions this summer.

"I think he'll point out that it's not precise or specific information related to time, place or location, but he's going to talk about the continued stream of intelligence reporting that we've been receiving going back over the last several weeks," McClellan said.

Ridge will also give an update on efforts under way to ramp up security in various parts of the country, he said.

U.S. officials have warned al Qaeda may be planning a major attack in the United States in this presidential election year.

5. Ridge: Status/efforts regarding threats
Since 2001 have reports of plans to attack America...NOW:

"'Al Ki-Eeda' plans to attack and disrupt our democratic process"

mentions Spain (go figger)

"Will not raise color-coded threat level today"

7. As Ridge spoke I had an epiphany
What if the "October Surprise" was an al-qaeda atack that was stopped by the administration? That way there doesn't have to be any damage or innocent lives lost. It doesn't even have to be a real planned attack. They only have to arrest a group of Arabs, say they were planning an attack and W gets to bask in adoration just before the election. After the election they can let the innocent "terrorists" go with an "Oops, our bad." but the election will be over. Today Ridge could just be laying the groundwork for that plan.
