I posted this in GD 2004 and got nothing, so I'm giving it a try here:

If you encounter someone that is voting for Bush but doesn't really know why (you know the type, not really a staunch repub, just voting for *Bush because he's the incumbent and a "war president")direct them to a candidate match-up website such as selectsmart.com

I've encountered a handful of people who are not all too interested in politics, but are voting Bush for whatever reason. Turns out that when they enter their answers they end up being far more compatible with Kerry. If nothing else it makes them give things a closer look. It definitely won't hurt anything and we might just change a few minds.

1. Or make them look at the party platforms side by side.....

Anyone who may not be Christian (Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, etc) is usually flabbergasted to learn that Republican part about "separation of church and state being a myth" and "the United States is a Christian nation" bullshit.

2. However there are much more passionate issues

-Lying about reasons for war in Iraq
-Failure in War or Terror (OBL still "at large", terror attacks up by almost 50% since 2001)
-Record deficits, i.e., larger than at any other time in history
-"Flirting" with torture and violations of the Geneva Convention
-Complete loss of international respect
-Ultra-conservative judicial and regulatory appointments

etc., etc., etc.

The platforms and "candidate match-up sites" really do not do the issues justice.
