There's another thread on DU that says these warnings always preface some bad news about the WH and they are trying to distract people from listening.

That's sure a possibility!

I wonder is it's not simpler than that.

If you issue warnings all the time, IF an attack occurrs, you can say....WE TOLD YOU SO! I think that's why there are never any more details. They're just playing CYA.

2. How timely with Edwards being tapped as VP

and the excitment generated by that announcement. I wouldn't put it past those GOPers to plan something in Boston and blame it on Osama's gang. Tom Ridge and their little plans are so crystal clear. Fear, fear, fear!! That's their mantra. Who can believe them now when they failed us on Septemeber 11 in New York City.
