Saxby Chambliss has prostate cancer
Edited on Thu Jul-08-04 01:39 PM by RummyTheDummy
Just heard it on CNN. Aint Karma a bitch.

(On edit for the Chambliss apologists: I hope he makes a full recovery. We can all hope it will change him in a positive way.)

3. Sorry he's ill with a life threatening illness
Perhaps it will transform him...and make him realize how very dirty it was to mock a disabled veteran for his own personal gain. Isn't it Christians who believe the Lord works in mysterious ways?

11. don't bet on it.
Molly Ivins pointed out a while back that having had cancer doesn't ennoble a person, and she's right.

20. Sorry about your husband
I'm sure he's a nice person, but I don't see what that has to do with this situation.

21. Having cancer doesn't make anyone good or bad
Chambliss is a prick regardless.Having cancer doesn't change that.

5. Okay, time to confess
If you saw on CNN.com the headline: "Georgia Senator has prostate cancer", did you secretly say to yourself, "Wow, I hope it was Zell!". I know I did!

6. Zell has/had prostate cancer
Someone posted that here recently, citing it as the reason he has become so emibttered the last few years.

18. Once again proving, when you can't express yourself sexually...
you turn into a Republican, or the closest thing to it, in Zell's case.

Depending on which side you believe is dark.

7. No, I really didn't. I detest Zell, and I live in N. Ga.
But I really can't wish illness on anybody, that's just wrong. As to Saxby, I dislike him ALMOST as much as I detest Zell. I do hope he has to quit the Senate to take care of his health! But I don't wish him anything that bad as death.

9. You're right , we shouldn't wish it on aynone
That in itself is bad karma. It is however interesting to note the karma involved in this particular case, almost amusing.

10. Truly sad. Remember Lee Atwater?
As he was dying, he realized what he had done, and apologized for it. Perhaps Chambliss will gain a more human perspective if he faces his own mortality.

(And I don't believe this has anything to do with karma. If karma was a valid concept, Cleland wouldn't have lost three of his limbs fighting for his country.)

24. And sometimes bad things happen to bad people.
And sometimes good things happen to good people.
And sometimes good things happen to bad people.

I just don't see any point it looking at these things as some sort of divine or cosmic plan. Beyond what we can know from science, no one can know why things happen. It may be annoying to hear cliches like "Only the good die young," or "So-and-so survived because it was a miracle," but at least it's trying to put a positive spin on events. The "karma is a bitch" idea is offensive because it suggests that if something bad happens to a person, another person can know that it happened because of that person's sins or evil deeds. I thought we had progressed beyond that type of thinking a few centuries ago.

No one deserves to have cancer! You should be ashamed of yourself for saying that!

29. I'm in the habit of not wishing cancer on anyone.
I've got my own reasons for that. I truly hope that our junior Senator, scum-sucking bottom-feeder that he is, makes a full recovery in time to be defeated in four years...
