CNN: Miles O'Brien is REALLY Beating on the "Wolf Crying" Terror Warning
Edited on Thu Jul-08-04 01:53 PM by stopbush
He's been at it all day with every segment and every guest. Cliff May on now looking - again - like the biggest asshole in the world.

Lots of negative e-mails being read now.

Bush is toast.

2. "Isn't it dangerous to play with people's emotions?"
So sez Miles.

4. Miles just read an e-mail that said (paraphrasing):
"Isn't it strange that 2 days after Kerry announces Edwards and bush's poll numbers sink, the * administration issues a terror alert?"

Miles: Cliff, that feeling is out there. Where does it come from?

Cliff May tries to make Michael Moore the issue (!)...and Dem guest Zimmermann calls him on it and proceeds to eat his lunch - "Cliff, will you repudiate Asskkkroft stating that anyone who disagrees with the administration is aiding terrorists?"!

Must see TV!

14. Nailed him like I've never seen before.
Didn't even know the little prick's name (May), but he is one of the slimeiest little bugs they have on.
Warmed me cockles.

8. "Are the Republicans trying to scare us all into getting re-elected?"
O'Brien was one of my favorites for a long time with his science and NASA reporting.

Then they promoted him to anchor about a year or so ago (and told him to dumb it WAAAAY down).

He complied. I turned him off.

So to hear his savvy skepticism is quite a surprise.

This isn't a tide change. This is a sea change.

5. I watched CNN for a couple of hours this morning....
before, during and after the Ridge segment... and every minute or so, they brought up that (many people feel that) it is a ploy to take attention away from the Democratic campaign right now. Interesting.

6. I sent them an e-mail thanking them for pointing out this angle to
the story. Before they would have been all over it but I've actually begun to see the press willing to question things a little more closely than they used to. Miracles never cease, huh?

7. i was watching at lunch
there was a 'terrorism expert' from Harvard on. He basically called Ridge's presentation a commercial for the Dept Homeland Security, and nothing of substance. He also raised the issue- if there is credible info, why not raise the alert level? he basically said it was all BS in a polite way. I didn't watch long, so I may have misinterpreted his perspective.

Here is what leading Republicans have to say:
"There are reminders to all Americans that they need to watch what they say, watch what they do, and this is not a time for remarks like that. There never is."
-- White House Spokesman Ari Fleischer

"To those who scare peace-loving people with phantoms of lost liberty, my message is this: Your tactics only aid terrorists for they erode our national unity and diminish our resolve. They give ammunition to America's enemies."
-- Attorney General John Ashcroft

" need to be very cautious not to seek political advantage by making incendiary suggestions."
-- Un-Vice President Dick Cheney

10. Big media flip-flops
I used to like Blitzer's honesty. Then he musta got paid off. Now Miles has taken his place for honesty.

Russert also was an obvious closet Repug until the WH staff fragged his interview with Colon Bowel recently. Now you can't stop him from ragging on the BA.

Guess they're all human too. But it's good to see some REAL criticism of the Chimp government for a change.

12. Attention Graph Guru's
I'd love to see the correlation between the changes in threat assessments/HS warnings with specific time points of political "bad news" for this administration.

Every thinks there's a correlation, someone should prove it.

She did some great research on this a week or two back on her show, showing how *all* the terror alerts raises & other terror press conferences could be tied directly to bad news for Bush a day or two earlier.
