IF you support Equal Marriage Rights.... |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-08-04 02:31 PM by Liberalboy
please do a little activism. I just got this message from one of my GLBT Online groups. Please help out your fellow Gay DU'ers by calling and registering your vote, thanks.
Governor Schwarzenegger is conducting a phone poll that includes same-sex marriage. Predictably, right-wingers are flooding the office with calls. So it's a good time to show support on the issue and it takes less than a minute.
Call: (916)445-2841
On the phone tree, press in order: Press #5 for "Hot Issues." Press #1 for Same Sex Marriage. Press #1 to support gay marriage in California.

Thanks for the instructions so I didn't have to sit on the phone to that man's office.
I feel like I need to wash my hands, and disinfect the phone now...but, they have my vote.
Where the hell is the Lysol????

3. Wow--that isn't very scientific |

I used the poll but that is worse than an internet pool. How easy would it be to setup a computer to call, pause 30 seconds, press button A, pause 10 seconds press B, etc.

They may use caller ID and not allow anonymous calls.
So the computer you are calling checks if it is bill smith from 854-444-4444 calling. If he calls again it does not count his vote twice.
Any computer with a modern modem and appropriate software can take calls and ID the caller if the phone company has enabled caller ID.

Anyone that doesn't believe in non-heterosexual Marriage (and I am not even remotely interested in hearing about Civil Union crap...I want the full monty here) is an ignorant dork.
Yes, I wrote that; if your opinion differs from mine ON THIS SUBJECT...then I think you are not thinking clearly.
Stephanie
I think this is the only subject where I feel there is NO wiggle room-

The number reaches the office of the Gropernator and offers a number of options --- it is a good number to keep handy! After all you never know when you might want Meathead to show up at some function.
Thanks for the heads up. We need to keep a watch on things like this.
Of course now I am probably on some list -- it won't be the first -- or last.
I was slow to support same sex marriage, until someone here at DU described how "civil unions" are just a sham. Now I realize that same sex marriage is a fundamental civil rights issue. The timing may be bad, but this is a fight that we must not shy from -- now or ever.

10. You know the Freeps have circulated this number |

RimJob's in Fresno, so he's gotta know about it.
technically, Herr Gropenator should be using Caller ID and blocking any calls not originating from a CA area code.

13. done - supported. Now, how do we find the results |

of what the "people" wanted... this is too bogus for words. How am I, a registered voter in CA, supposed to find out that the Governator is running these polls? I mean, it's one thing to have bogus polls at news web sites and political web sites... and the caveat is that it's not a scientific poll, even if 100s of thousands respond (because mostly the audience of the news site or freeped or DU'd respondents take the time to answer). Of course, if millions respond, then the "unscientific" nature of the poll becomes a non-issue.
But why in the world is the Governator running bogus phone polls?

We need a separate forum for these sorts of things.
